Quick Question. My girlfriend has a 1989 Cavalier that the paint is very neglected. She got it from some old peole that probably never waxed it. The roof of the car is the worst. The paint looks like it cracked. When I tried to use some compound a while back the white residue stayed in the cracks now she has a big bluish/white circle where I used the product. Now my question is will ColorX help restore this paint color and will it get the bluish/white circle out? The rest of the paint isn't cracked, just the roof, it looks like the front end was repainted from an accident or something. Any other useful tips to try to restore this paint without repainting would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think ColorX, or any companies wax is going to fix the cracks in the paint. This called paint failure and I think what is sometimes referred to as lacquer checking. The term is used to describe the cracking effect even though it may be on a different type of paint other than lacquer.
The problem is the paint is do dried out, oxidized and dead. When paint gets to this stage, it's really past the point of restoration. Of course, you can always try and ColorX is strong cleaner wax, it may remove, or at least improve the current condition.
It sounds like ColorX would be the perfect one-step solution to this paint problem. Here's a tip, when working on single stage finishes like this that have been neglected for a long time, use ample product, (don’t' be stingy), so that the chemical cleaners and rich polishing oils can penetrate into and go to work on the finish. Also, for a little extra cleaning power, try using a piece of terry cloth to apply and work the product instead of a foam applicator pad.The rest of the paint isn't cracked, just the roof, it looks like the front end was repainted from an accident or something. The little cotton loops, (call the nap), that give terry cloth it's name, act like a type of abrasive, albeit a very gentle type), which helps you to agitate and work the cleaner/wax into and over the surface.

This Bronco had not been waxed in at least three years, possibly longer. I did a couple of test spots starting out with a foam applicator pad. While this was working, for just little extra bite I switched over to a piece of terry cloth towel. I believe this helped me to leverage the cleaning and polishing ability of the ColorX to it's maximum extent on this particular paint type.
