  • Color-X

Just picked some up today, but I didn't get a chance to really use it yet. The smell kind of it kind of reminds me of Head & Shoulders shampoo.

EDIT* Mike...when you apply the Color-X with the PC, do you buff until it's gone, or just work it in stopping short of buffing until removal?

just tried out on my 95 jeep (winter beater)...paint 's only seen a couple of coats of good ol' megs cleaner wax..and some spray paint touch up

went on easy with PC...I didnt spend too much time working it in..set @4.5...buffed off easy with MF towel

cleaned up paint well...didn't do a heck of alot for some of the swirls I had or some water mark etching..

shine was actually better next day (is it polymer based?)

beaded up well after a couple of days of rain...but the remsants of the last hurricane did the hood and roof in (sides seem to holding up well 1 week later)...

overall didn't seem too bad of a product but my jeep is white and old...so not the greatest of examples

plan on throwing two coats on next time and topping with NXT..
also my girls murano will see 1 coat topped with NXT...not sure if I'll try it on my Z or not

        Hi Don,

There are actually not any products that I can think of that you buff till they are completely gone, or have turned to a dry residue. For the ColorX, or any Meguiar's cleaner/wax, you want to work the product long enough to clean the paint, but still leave a wet film behind to dry. After it dries, then you can remove it all the way, this is usually about 5-10 minutes as most cleaner waxes dry rather quickly.

A note about using cleaner/waxes, if the finish extremely neglected, best results will achieved with two applications as the first application will be doing a lot of the cleaning work. The second application will continue to clean, but it will also do more polishing because now a lot of the oxidized, stained, dirty paint will have been removed.
