  • microfiber and NXT

NXT instructions says to remove the wax using 100% cotton towel. I was using 100% cotton flannel cloth for a while. Today I tried using a microfiber cloth I bought at Walmart. It did a good job. The flannel cloth gets "sticky" after a while (even after turning it after each wipe). The microfiber does not have the same problems I have with the cotton cloth.

any thoughts on the use of microfiber cloths.

The MF towels will work fine for removing the NXT. I prefer MF towels that aren't "super plush" for removing carnauba, and most synthetic products like NXT. Be careful on quality of towels you are getting at WalMart. Use the best towels that you can afford.............. no matter what products you are using.

Microfibers are great for removing product, the higher quality will not scratch your paint. I use to use %100 cotton then I changed to all Microfibers a couple months ago, I like them much better and only use the cotton on interior and glass.

        MF Towels

Quality MF towels can be had at Pakshak.Pakshak

Another alternative are the MF "natural" fiber towels from DF Towels: DF Towels

And one cannot forget the CBT towel! CBT

I'd advise that you purchase at least some MF towels from Pakshak, and have at least one DF and one CBT.

          Microfiber Towels

These waffle towels from Autopia are the softest and best I have used for detailing.

              Deanski,

Couldn't agree more with your towel selection. I have several of the DFT towels, and they are my towel of choice for removing waxes/sealants, and final QD'ing. Ranney's towels make great all around detailing towels!

The DF towels are the best towels I have ever used. In second place I would put the Ultimate Wipes. In third place I would put the now unobtainable Fieldcrest Charisma towels. DF towels and the Ultimate Wipes are the only towels that would not scratch the hood of my black WS6 Trans Am. The paint on it scratched very easily.

Someone just mentioned the waffle weave MF towels. This includes the towels designed for drying after a car wash, like the Big Blue and the Meguiars MF drying towels. Can or should these towels be used for wax and polish removal? Has anyone tried this?

One thing I noticed on my TA was that, if I applied NXT too thick in some spots, the ULtimate wipe would slide right over it. This was quite a surprise as the Ultimate wipe is very "grippy," even on a freshly waxed surface. Using a 100% cotton towel like the Charisma or the ones sold by Meguiar's would take the dried NXT right off where the MF would not.

Now another question: When will the new Ultimate Bonnets and Ultimate Wipes be available? I am anxious to try them because I thought the old ones worked pretty well.

                    DF Towels

Agreed, that DF towels: Order your DF Towels here are by far one of the softest towels on the market today!

For QD work, if you use Megs FI or FD or Clearkote QSS etc, you NEED at least one of these towels!

After obtaining several MF towels, and the type of fabric DF Towels use by another mfg/distributor in a different color, I can say that the DF's are quite the ones you want for all fine work.

I still use Pakshak MF's for general wax-off, but when the last coat is on, and I QD between, the DF towels come out!

I have two in the trunk of the SC430 in a plastic bag along with my QD product for touch-ups.

Leo's the man if you want THE BEST!

                    Regards,
