  • Does NXT remove polish also?

    Hey guys,

I know NXT supposedly removed any wax that might be on the car when you apply it, but does it also remove the polish? I mean it seems silly to put NXT on your car if it removes the step 2 of polishing your car?

    Thanks as always,

    Hey pologuy

Good to see a fellow Milwaukian here.

I can tell you from my testing that NXT looks better if you apply it over a pure polish such as #7 or #81. Even my wife could see the difference. So while NXT might remove some of the polish it clearly doesn't remove it all. Test it on half your hood for yourself.

      Yeah,

Right now I use #7 polish and #16 wax and am happy with the results.

But heard that the NXT was better on black cars.

So was going to use #7 polish, then the NXT wax and then the #16 over it.

Just seems self-defeating if the NXT takes the polish off though.....

It really doesn't take the polish off. Maybe just a bit of it but the look is well worth the effort of using the polish. I like NXT on my red MR2 and my Savannah Lexus.

Here are a couple photos of NXT over #81 on a black Highlander I did for a client recently.

I agree with jfelbab's suggestion: put #7 on half the hood, then NXT over the whole hood and see if you notice a difference.

I've used #7 with NXT until recently. After using both products the paints surface seemed to be a bit oily to touch. Very slick and oily. I've also tried NXT only and the surface is still slick but for a shorter time. I really prefer the #7/ NXT. I think NXT does remove some polish but the end result of #7 and NXT is better than NXT alone.

Now I use #81 with NXT and I really like this combo. #81 is way easier to use than #7.

            Hope you find this helpful.

#81 and NXT... I was very happy with the polished vs. non-polished look of NXT. #81 seemed to add quite a bit of depth even after NXT was applied, well worth the time!
