  • Looking for some help.....

Ok, my car doesn’t have ALOT of swirls but it does have some. There are also some spots that are worse than others. I was thinking about using 83 then 80 and see how it goes.
So, my question would be can i use 83 as a "spot" treatment and then go over the whole truck in 80, or just 83 the whole car then 80 over again?
Thanks for your help in advance.

    2nd Question:
    Also, plan of attack:
    Wash
    Clay
    83
    80
    9
    7
    NXT 2.0
    26

    Any Advise?

Yes, you can use #83 in the areas that you need it and only those areas. Remember to do a test spot on a 2x2ft section where you do your entire process, from wash to wax, to make sure it will work and provide the results you like.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    2nd Question:

Wash Good, Gold Class or NXT Wash are great!
    Clay Good
83 Make sure you do a test spot first before you start off with 83, use the least aggressive product needed.
    80
9 Sounds like your car is a daily driver so you dont need that many polishes. Just 80 is good enough.
    7 Same as above.
    NXT 2.0
    26

If you're working with a DA Polisher like a Porter Cable unit then see what you can do with M80 first, you never know what you can do until you try and if you can remove the swirls and scratches with M80 it's a lot easier to work with than M83.

Also, read through this and make sure you're not making any of the common mistakes.

If you're working by hand, then get our new M105 Ultra Cut Compound.

            Re: Looking for some help.....

I think Ryan did a great job of helping you out, but I wanted to add to what he explained with some personal experience. I would suggest putting most of your time and effort into using the #83 and #80. I have a lot of experience with Ford (and specifically F150 paint) and I think the #83 will be needed for the deeper swirls if you truly want perfection.

However, you will want to check it in the sun as #83 *can* leave light marring that is hard to see in other light. Check for it, and then simply follow with #80 to clear that up.

As for the pure polishes, they aren't quite as crucial on a clear coated newer cars, so pick one (#7) and throw that on there after you finish taking out the scratches.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Definitely try M80 first with a W8006 Polishing Pad and work small sections at at time. This new tool has plenty of power and in most cases M80 will tackle about 90% of the paint systems out there, if it doesn't then you can always switch to M83 DACP

"Use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

This will enable you to reach your goal while leaving the most amount of paint on the car for the future.

Very good point Mike, I failed to properly convey that.

The only other point I would like to add is this. When washing your vehicle use the 2 bucket method with the grit guards. Otherwise you will be going in a viscous circle always trying to remove the swirls you will be inducing. Good luck let us know how it turns out.

I would try the M80 first on a test panel. 105 also works well by hand if you want to do that on selected spots. I usually use this around door handles. Test 83 see how the results are.

Thanks to Everyone for their help, it really did help alot and quickly. I also have another question without starting a new thread.

What do I do every carwash, just wash and spray detail? and How often should I wax and use 80,83, and 7?
I guess it would be when ever i need it, but what is usually a general time frame?

                        Re: Looking for some help.....

I like to use the UQD after washes to shine things up.

If you are washing/drying properly, and not offroading, not having other people scratch your car, etc, #83 should not really ever be needed again.

Its hard to say how long things will last, but my car is a daily driver, parked outside, and I always get at least a couple months before it needs it. But, I detail sooner that sometimes.
