  • Need a wheel cleaner

I just got one of my rims repainted because I scratched it on the curb. I am well past the curing time, and I am wondering which wheel cleaner to use. I don't want to ruin the clear coating or anything like that. Someone told me that Hot Rims and products alike can wear the brakes down. I was looking at the Aluminum cleaner, how is that different and safer than the regular Hot Rims?

    Thanks

    Re: Need a wheel cleaner

The Hot Rims Aluminum Cleaner is the mildest. I have been using the Hot Rims cleaners for a couple of years and have not experienced brake problems.

I only use it as I need it as it will strip wax off of painted or clear coated rims.

You can't go wrong with the Aluminum Cleaner. I use the All Wheel cleaner on my machined clear coated wheels and I have painted with a machined/clear coated lip. No ill effects and have had them a long time. I do have chips in the clear coat causing me issues but not at the hands of the cleaners, rather flying solid objects bouncing off of them and they will soon be stripped and polished

I use the Aluminum Wheel Cleaner all the time, no problems. Also use it on the exhaust/mufflers.

The Aluminum Wheel Cleaner is the relabeled MultiPiece, just in case you catch it on sale.

Cool. So I shouldn't worry about the Aluminum cleaner being harsh to the clear coating on my rims?

No, it is safe for clear coated rims.

Maybe once a year I will clay and use a paint cleaner on my rims (clear coated) also.
