Does it have to be a Meguiar's product?

I use either Shining Monkey or Stoner's Tire Shine. Both work very well, last a fairly good amount of time, doesn't build up, and most importantly doesn't sling off. They are both great products and I haven't found anything else I really care for yet.

Those are seriously BIG tires! One thing we use to quickly dress the tires are wheel covers that shield the metal from the tire dressing. They come in various sizes with a handle in the middle. (Your wheels are probably big enough you could use a garbage can lid!) It makes quick work to cover the metal, spray the dressing and do a quick wipe off of the excess.

I have been looking locally for those wheel covers to shield the metal from the tire dressing. Do you have any information on them i.e. manufacturer or where they are available. I have seen a few on the Internet, but by the time you add the shipping they seem real expensive.

i have used hyper dressing right out of the bottle before on tires. i love the way it looks, i usually wipe down once and then re-apply because it gets into the cracks and writing on the tire. next time i put tire shine on, ill post some pictures of different shines i have laying around here. then decide which one you like.

I dont think I have heard of Hyper Dressing being used straight.... I think 1:1 is the most I have heard of.

I might have to be the first to try. Worst case is a lot of scrubbing and swearing Meguiar's products only to buy them again cause they ROCK! If I do swear I won't take Barry's name in vain I promise.

I also got the residue when cleaning my tires with Endurance on them
I now use Westleys Bleach White and it takes the rubber right down to
nothing and melts road tar right of and leaves my brushes nice and clean
Then I re-apply Endurance again

I know I am jumping in on this thread but it applies to the same question about tire dressings. I have never used the Hyper Dressing but I love a shiny tire as well and was wondering if you can apply Hyper Dressing straight and if so will it be shinier than the NXT Tire Shine?

i have had similar questions. i have found hyper dressing is the answer. goes on easy even applying with an old rag. put a couple of coats on and it shines nice. and washes off easily each week when i wash the car.

maybe mike can repost the link that he did for me refarding silicon dressings!

Hi,

I have used various combinations of Meguiars for wheel and tire care. I started with the Endurance which does indeed last but sling was occasionally a problem.

I switched to S-Dressing (dark blue/purple stuff in a gallon bottle) some years ago and applied with a brush. The results were okay but endurance was better.

I then used the NXT aerosol which has easy to apply but too much shine for me. I prefer the natural black look as opposed to the high gloss. I used Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner as well during this period.

Armoral Tire foam was next which gave the desired level of gloss but did not last at all.

My current combo is:

Safe D-Greaser on the tires
Wheel Brightener on the Wheels
Scrub the tires with the tire brush, clean the rims with the yellow wheel brush with a long handle and with the yellow spoke brush (similar to a baby bottle brush)
Spray on GC wash (mixed for washing) and hose off
After the car has been washed and dried I then apply Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray with the nozzle set to narrow and with a brush

The end result is a gloss that is a lttle more than I prefer but there are no sling issues and after a few days the gloss is reduced to what i prefer and it lasts as well so there is a "middle ground" of sorts.

I used one of the aerosol tire cans for the first time today. You're right when you said it's easy to use.

I was very careful, and I didn't feel any got on the paint, but just like overspray from paint, I imagine tiny bits get on paint.

How bad is the tire stuff for a car's paint? Would overspray remove wax, for example, or cause any damage?

Yeah... that's the stuff I just started using. But, then it went to the dealer for some warranty work and they sprayed something else on top!!
