    Yes...

We tend to make recomendations based on getting as close to perfect as possible... and part of that is recomending 2 coats of wax for the best results. That is why ColorX (which has wax in it) would be followed by a regular wax to get the 2 coats.

But one coat of ColorX will still protect your car, as well as clean and polish also.

      Yes.

ColorX is a cleaner/wax so it will clean, polish and wax in one step.

Some people like to apply a second wax that's not a cleaner/wax over a cleaner/wax to provide more wax protection, that's called "Topping" and that may be what caused the confusion.

When the word clean is used on this forum it doesn't mean washing, it means removing defects... this article may help...

The words Clean and Cleaning as defined by Meguiar's terminology

You guys are great. I'm going with ColorX. Hopefully, the spots that I've treated with ScratchX already won't look like **** by the time that I get around to waxing. Should I be concerned about that, or am I probably OK if I keep the car in good shape (it's brand new) and wax when I can? As long as I avoid scratches and stuff, I'd like to think that there won't be any difference in paint color between the treated and untreated portions of the car... it looks like ColorX is good for maintaning color clarity as well though, yes?

OK, I promise, no more questions!!

One more thing brought to my attention guys: If I follow the proceedure discussed, can I be certain that if there any wax currently on my car, the two bucket method will successfully remove it before reapplying QD and wax? Thanks!

A good quality soap like Gold Class, Nxt, etc will not remove wax.

And you dont want it to, otherwise you would have to wax everytime you washed...

However, if the surface is cleaned often, you can re-wax over the old wax. Then use something like ColorX when you want to remove the old wax.

                  Huh?

if you want to remove the wax off your paint then use a paint cleaner like Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, the chemical cleaners, the diminishing abrasives and the act of rubbing this product over the paint will remove any previously applied wax.

Don't make things more complicated than they have to be. At some point you need to push away from the keyboard and actually go work on the car.

You don't need to remove the old wax layer before applying ColorX. The cleaners in ColorX will do a good job of preparing the car for wax....which ColorX has in it! That's the beauty of a one step product like Cleaner Wax or ColorX. To your other question (as I understood it) you don't need to ColorX every time you wash. You just need to wash before ColorX. Every few weeks look at the car after you wash it and make sure you still have protection/wax coverage. If you notice it fading then it's time for another application of ColorX
