  • Started all over..And a funny story

So after asking for advice on my new truck, I decided to start all over again from scratch. Before, I just put a coat of NXT 2.0 and thought the truck looked awesome. Then, after posting here I realized I should of done several steps before hand. So, this is what i did

Washed the truck by hand with NXT soap... I clay bar last week so didn't think I needed to do it again

    Used deep crystal cleaner

    used deep crystal polish

    use NXT 2.0 1 coat

Picked up my arms off the floor and went in the house

I gotta say, I was not sure all the steps would make a big difference. Again, this truck is 8 mos old. Anyway, I did it all....After looking at the paint for like 9 hours, everything looks the same.

The best part of the story is the gal that lives next door came over with her 8 year old little girl to chat me up...anyway, the little girl looks at her mother and says. "Mom, how come Dad's truck does not look that Juicy" I about fell on my butt. She said it looked juicy like a piece of candy. Thats when I knew I had spent all the time and it showed. Heck, if an 8 year old can see a diff..It was worth it.

After a shower and another look..It looks awesome. It was neat to see the paint change right in front of me....The polish made all the difference in the world.

A few questions. Should I do another coat of NXT tomorrow? The truck will not move from the driveway at all today or the rest of the night. If yes on the next coat..Do I have to wash it again? before that next coat.

Last but not least..Do I have to go through this all over again in 2-3 months..Man, thats tons of work. I do have some ultimate detailer as well

    Here she is

    All "Juicy"

can ya see the metal flake just pop here...

    Your truck looks great!

There really is no need to wash again, however that being said I would definately use the UQD before waxing again to remove any dust that accumulated while it was sitting over night. You could wash it though if you wish, there is nothing wrong with that. Just make sure before washing you have left the NXT 2.0 cure for 12 hours.

It's kind of like writing an article, you spend so much time writing it you now can't proof-read it because you've spend to much time already looking at it and your eyes are bugging out... so you get someone else to proof-read it for you because they have fresh eyes...

This is a key statement... once in a while you'll read threads on this forum and others where the value of applying a pure polish is questioned...

Sometimes a person needs to push away from the keyboard and instead of questioning everything written on a discussion forum go out into the garage and just do it...

Real world experience beats hypothetical what ifs in the Cyber-World any day...

Again... great story, thanks for sharing it with our forum community...

As long as there's not a lot of airborne dirt, dust and other contaminants in the air where the truck is parked you should be able to gently wipe the paint down with some Quik Detailer and then apply your second coat of wax.

If you're careful each time you wash it and in every way you touch the paint you should be able to maintain with Ultimate Quik Detailer and then re-apply a coat of wax every 2-4 months, basically as often as you want the truck to look juicy...

No problem on the edits. I'm not the best speller

Another quick question. When I was done applying everything..The paint was smooth as glass...I just went outside and ran my hand on it and felt little bumps it felt like it did before I did the clay bar. I assume some stuff is floatin around and imbedding itself while my truck just sits there? Wow, that's depressing sort of.

Yea, I just did the polish..No questions asked and am glad I did. Funny, after a few hours the color is looking ritcher. Can that really be? or am I just thinkin it is??

Can't wait till tomorrow I'm anxious to use the UQD

                            LL,

Wow... truck looks AMAZING (and juicy)!!! You know, I had a similar experience (minus the 8 year old), but I was doing my wife's car and I was so absorbed in the process I wasn't sure the pure polish was making a difference, so I chose to only put it on a select few panels and call my wife out to tell me what she thought.

She picked out EVERY polished panel as looking "wetter" than the others.

I have found, and I am sure others will agree that the longer NXT sits and cures the deeper and "wetter" it will look. If you have some kind of contaminent that is in fact imbedding itself into the finish, however I dought it, it may be well worth it to wash it again in the morning before applying the second coat of NXT. Don't worry though, you can still use your UQD afterwards.
