  • Cleaning glass

What is the best glass cleaner? There are so many choices on the shelves that it gets confusing. Some have ammonia and some say they contain citrus. Also, is Rain-X as good as they claim or will it cause streaking?

I like Invisible Glass by Stoner its a great glass cleaner works great with no streaks.

I like rainx glass treatment (NOT their glass cleaner), I use it all the time works very well at highway speeds. Also it helps make removing bugs much easier. It will streak but if you take your time and wipe the window down VERY well after it drys its crystal clear and lasts about a month for me.

I have not tried Meguiars glass wipes, I am not sure that they make anything else for cleaning glass, there might be something in the detailer line.

The detailer line has a glass cleaner concentrate. Works very well, plus you dillute it 10 to 1 so a gallon lasts a looooong time. The only problem for most people is simply finding it in anything less than the 4 gallon minimum order.

Meguiar's glass cleaner in their Detailer is awesome.

I know, you expect to hear something like that from a person who works for Meguiar’s, but let me tell you this stuff works as good or better than anything I've ever tried.

When I sold Meguiar’s Detailer in Oregon, many times I would come across a detail shop that wasn’t interested in anything new. The were comfortable with their current products and didn’t want to start the process of learning a new system. I can’t say I blame them, especially if they are established and successful.

That said, when I came across detail shops like this I would ask if I could leave a sample of Meguiar’s Glass Cleaner and check back the next week to see if they like it. Without exception, every shop I left a sample with bought!

The stuff works great and professionals that use a lot of glass cleaner as a part of their every day business cannot all be wrong.

Here’s a link to it on the Meguiar’s website,

        Meguiar's Glass Cleaner Concentrate

On Meguiar’s website, you have to purchase it by the case. But if you check with your local PBE store, if they don’t carry it, they can order it for you and usually have it by the next day.

It dilutes at 10:1 So a one gallon jug will make 11 gallons of Glass Cleaner, enough to last you most of your life.

        Hope this helps…

What Mike said is true, it does work that well. The trick is to use it with a microfiber. But it's the only thing that I've found that makes windows just perfect.

I havnt had a chance to try the glass wipes but am looking forward to it as soon as products are avilable to order from the megs canada site (mike do you have any idea when it will be up and running) .Right now i to am useing stoner invisible glass its the best i have used so far .If you have after market tint i would stay away from glass cleaners contianing ammonia as it can discolour and damage the film.

                  RainX

If you do use rainx try this tip.... apply it heavy to a clean windshield as directed..... this let it sit while you do something else like clean your rims & tires....then wash your car or truck like you normally do....the rainx comes off alot easier...& is applyed very well

Try the meguiars gass cleaner concentrate with a micro-fiber towel....The glass is spotless everytime also just as a reminder the micro fiber towels should be washed by their selves and dry by their selves as well .....

                      Glass wipes

I tried the Glass Wipes yesterday. They work well for a product like that. I was running out of time after claying, polishing, nxt waxing my Tundra that the interior did not get done. I will try them out on my 4runner today and let you know how well they work on it.

Great idea for the RainX... but don't you need to wash the car before you put RainX on the windsheild??

                            Slats,
I use the same method of applying RainX as RedCamaro does. Just clean the windows first, apply RainX very thoroughly, and then wash car (and windows). It leaves absolutely no haze this way, and is so much easier than buffing it.
