Hey everybody. 2003 pearl white Hyundai Sonata. It's basically a beautiful Jaguar for someone with a Hyundai budget.
I would like some people to recommend a complete line for washing/waxing/detailing. I'd been using Meguiar's cleaner wax for a long time, and with good results. But looking around here, I feel like there's so much excitement about any wax but that one. I once tried Gold Class and didn't like the feel afterwards. Then I was told on here that I needed a cleaner wax before the Gold Class. I really don't have the time or energy for using two waxes one after the other. Especially after how long it takes me to wash the car - I get everything. Add on the detailing afterwards and it's an all day affair.
I want something that looks amazing, shiny, clean, and also feels like the cleaner wax - silky smooth. Should I just stick with cleaner wax?
And what's the difference between the consumer and professional line? Hey, I'm all for paying more money for results. I'm not limited to the consumer line if there's a difference. Basically, there's too many products out there.
Right now, I just use gold class car wash, followed by the cleaner wax if I have the energy. I use Armorall for the black plastic trim on the outside windows and I think it makes the sun fading look worse. I have to go over it just so, like on the 50th stroke to make it look right. It's weird. I'm also not even sure if the armorall is even good for my dash or not.
I used Plastx on my headlights to remove any scratches (I did the step by step I found on this forum). I took out all the scratches completely, but I kind of feel like it lost it's shiny wet vibrant clearness to it. It's not scratched or anything, but the clear plastic no longer looks vibrant. Did I scuff out some beautified layer or something?
And finally, I bought ScratchX. Honestly I don't even know what it's for. Either my scratches seem to go away with cleaner wax, or they don't.
What am I missing? Is there anything I'm missing by just using the cleaner wax once in a while? I want my car to look brand new. Like I said, it's a Hyundai, but when people see it they say nice car. Example: I work in the high end A/V installation business. I was at a mansion of one of our client's homes. These mansions always have workers on site doing this or that -it's absolutely insane. When I was pulling out, I had to have a few service men move out of the circular drive way for me to leave, they all waved and smiled at me - thinking I lived there!
I bought some clay but never got around to using it. I left it at my moms house when I moved from AZ to CT. I miss AZ. I'm scared I'm going to get rust out here.
I'm a big Megs fan, I trust this brand more than anything I find on the shelf. I just want to re-access what I'm doing. If anyone wants to recommend a step by step product process, I'm all for it.
