  • EXTRA and SHINE sprays

I really like the EXTRA. It worked great on my wheel wells. Today I tried in the engine compartment, and I didnt reach everywhere down deep, but the areas I got really look perfectly new. My car is 6 mos. old so basically I only did a dusting. I'll do more next time trying on my hubby's 7 yr old Jimmy That has real dirt and grime, never been detailed. So yeah big fan of the EXTRA.

I tried to put SHINE spray on the engine hoses but it sprayed out funny, I wiped it and now hoses got wipe marks so they look streaky, not nice and neatly shiney. What's the best way to apply it? just spray or do you put on a towel and then wipe the hoses with the sprayed towel? thanks.

When you say you used, Shine Spray, do you mean Meguiar's Natural Shine?

If that's correct and you used Natural Shine on the engine interior, then probably the best way to use it would be to apply thoroughly with a foam applicator, working the product in. Allow it to penetrate and then wipe off any exssess residue.

Meguiar's actually makes a product for engine compartments called Engine Kote. This is a product that you simply spray on and then leave alone to dry after first cleaning like you did with the Extra.

        Hi denect,

Apply with the foam and work the product in well for maximum pentetration. After a few minutes, remove any excess with a terry cloth towel so that you have nice even look.

When are they going to start selling Engine Kote in smaller sizes? I have heard lots of good things about it but.... a case might be a little over kill for me.

Some of meguiars best products can only be bought in larger amounts, its a bummer.

Interesting that you brought up the wipe mark comment as I had a similar experience with NATURAL SHINE. I, too, followed Mike's directions and 'BAM'!... it made all the difference in the world.

Nat. Shine seems to be a little bit thicker product (viscosity)... the best way to apply is with the foam pad...

Also, if you like EXTRA, I think you'll love Meguiar's All-Purpose Cleaner Plus (APC+). Even better, one gallon is enough to last you a LONG time as you dilute it to your specified strength. Give it a try! You'll love the results!!
