Determining if a car has a clear coat

I have a 1985 black mercedes. Can anyone till me if this is a clear coat or a single stage paint. I've read the threads, but can someone tell me definitively if they know if this car has a clear coat over the paint?

A simple test would be to try a spot test. Use something like scratch x and if the applicator has some paint transfers then it would be single stage.

Yeah, you have to either do the above test, or just dont worry about.

The same products and process will work.
