Can I (should I) use #1 Paint Cleaner & # 2 Polish of the Deep Crystal System with the NXT wax? How should the NXT final results compare to using the #3 Deep Crystal Carnuba Wax?

I see no problem in using the #1 & #2 steps from the Deep Crystal system for preping a finish before using NXT, they are completely compatible. I've never used the #3 Carnuba Wax so I'm going out on a limb here...my guess is that the NXT will protect longer than the #3CW since it is a polymer which last longer than carnuba based waxes. As far as finish the NXT will leave a deep, very glossy and very reflective look while I'm guessing the #3CW will have that warm glow and soft reflections that most carnuba based waxes have.2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6

I have used all three steps in the deep crystal system and they work great. I could only get the #3 to last 3 weeks 4 at the most. I have also used #1 and #2 then NXT it worked great as well, the nxt has been on my truck for 6 weeks now and its still there. So..... I would go with the 1, 2 and NXT I also think the NXT looks better.Brandon

One more thing MattN03.... If you have the time I would recommend a second coat of NXT 24 hours or so after the first coat. I had a noticeable difference after I applied the second coat on my truck. I am a believer in the second coat I am sure you will find others that are as well.
If you can, post some pictures when you are done maybe even before and after.Brandon

I would be happy to post pics, but I don't have a digital cameraThe car isn't a daily driver, so it's always spotless & stays under a car cover. I'll be getting it ready for the 40th Mustang Anniversary show in Nashville, TN in April, so I'll DEFINATELY find time to put two coats on
I'm hoping to bring home a trophy in the car show

One more question: I read that many are not hand applying the wax. Will it be a problem if I apply it with a rag instead of a buffer?

If you get a chance between now and the event in April, I would highly recommend applying the NXT Tech Wax using the porter cable dual-action polisher. Yesterday, here at Meguiar's, we applied the NXT Tech Wax to over a dozen trucks using the PC.
While using your hands will result in great results, there is something to the polishing action generated by the porter cable dual action polisher that's pretty hard to beat for a show car shine.
On a couple of trucks, all we did was apply the NXT Tech Wax and remove. We would then pull the truck out into the sun and inspect. In all cases, the finish was more clear, more reflective with high shine and excellent gloss. But, there were still some signs of the cobweb-effect.
With other trucks, we would first apply a cleaner/polish, (#83 DACP), using the PC followed by the NXT Tech Wax and afterwards, pull the truck out into the sun to reveal a swirl free, flawless finish.
If you’re serious about winning a first place in April, and at any future events, the small cost of a porter cable dual action polisher plus a few buffing pads is well worth the investment. One more product I would highly recommend and that’s the new microfiber polishing bonnets Meguiar’s offers for the small 6.5” foam polishing pads. I don’t know why, but they really seem to bring out a high gloss finish when used to remove the NXT Tech Wax.

How much would the PC polisher cost & is it goof proof? The last thing I want is to accidently harm my paint because I've never used a polisher before

Do not use a rag of questionable quality to apply any wax. You end-up with cloth inflicted scratches. Meguiar's sells extra foam wax applicator pads at a very reasonable price. Stock up on them so that you always have clean wax applicator pads ready to use. Also invest in plenty of microfiber polishing cloths. These will insure a clear, streak free, high gloss finish without worrying about cloth inflicted scratches when removing you wax.
If you do a good job of thoroughly applying one to two coats of the NXT Tech Wax you should get awesome results.
Hope this helps...

Meguiar's sells this polisher with a life time warrenty for $225.95 This includes a backing plate and one foam pad.
Follow this thread as I continue to post pictures. Most of the people at this event have never used the PC before.

Ok, that just opened up a few more questions...
I have 3 or 4 of the Meguiars foam applicators & the new one that came with the NXT wax. Can I wash these after each use & reuse them or should I dispose of them? Also, I bought the 100% cotton terry cloth towels in the Meguiars catalog to take the wax off. Is this a good idea or should I be using the microfiber polishing cloths? Thanks for the help!!

If you shop around you can find a Porter Cable 7424 for $119.00 maybe even $109.00 try www.amazon.com I think they have free shipping. Then call up meguiars and get the Kit containing the hook and loop backing plate, 2 polishing pads and 1 finishing pad I think it cost me $35.00 from meguiars. If you were to go with the Meguiars one.... as Mike pointed out they will give you a lifetime warranty...
I like Microfibers for removing wax but I am sure the Meguiars 100% cotton towels are very high quality and will work fine without scratching.Last edited by gb387; Feb 29, 2004, 08:08 PM.Brandon

Your new Porter-Cable
Here's where you can find it cheap!
Porter-Cable 7424 Kit
Many of us from Autopia have ordered from this company, and they offer the "PC" at this price mostly due to the replies from Autopia members. It comes with the 6" counterweight as well.
You will get it very quickly too! Got my Makita 9227C from them.
Regards,
Deanski
