  • Clay is the way!

Saw the video about claying and I can see its power!

Now since the clay kit is not available from my retailer. Can I just buy these from the professional line?

Can the nXT 2.0 or color X be a good combo with the above instead of the quick detailer? . Am i on the right track?

Just make sure to get the blue mild clay shown on the left. The red aggressive clay is probably too aggressive for most needs and could leave marring on the finish.

You will still need a quick detailer for lube so the clay glides smoothly over the surface with out sticking. Once you clay and you find a dry spot you will understand why the lube is important.

Like Scott said, make sure you go with the blue or mild clay. Red clay may leave marring that will need a rotary buffer to remove. Use plenty of quik detailer for your lubricant.

Yes, you can use either of these if the Smooth Surface Clay Kit is not available in your area. We should caution you that the C2100 Aggressive Clay (red) is actually aggressive enough to haze paint and should only be used if you intend to machine polish the paint after using this. We highly recommend that you select the C2000 Mild Clay (blue) when the Smooth Surface Clay Kit is unavailable to you.

Neither of these products is suitable as a lubricant for the clay, if that's what you're asking. We recommend using Quik Detailer (not Ultimate Quik Detailer) or Last Touch diluted 1:1 with water as your clay lube.

            First off, welcome to MOL!

If you detail cars fairly regularly - you do mention doing 2 this weekend alone - then the C2000 Mild Clay may be a good idea for you. It comes as a single 200g bar compared to 2 x 50g bars in the Smooth Surface Clay Kit. Those 50g bars are a perfect size for working on the paint, so you can cut that single 200g C2000 bar into 4 pieces.

Keep in mind that the Smooth Surface Clay Kit is really designed to offer everything a weekend warrior needs to clay their car, all in a single package - clay, Quik Detailer for lube, Supreme Shine microfiber towel, and enough Cleaner Wax to do a full sized car.

hello and welcome to mol. Just another thing to add. No matter what clay you end up with, smooth surface or the mild. Do not try to use it after you drop it. I think everyone has had to throw out a piece of clay. I know I have. lol

I have a question, how long can I use the clay? I mean after using it once you throw it away?

                      Re: Clay is the way!

Basically you use the clay Until its completely contaminated. When you knead it and its still dirty looking then its time to get a new piece. Is that after 1 car? or 3. Hard to say based on how much gunk is removed from your vehicle.
