  • NXT Tech Wax application

I have a newbie question. Do you guys apply your tech wax a section at a time then wait for it to haze or do you guys just wax away until you see the section that you did earlier haze.

How long does it take to haze? 1 min? 5 or 10?

Plus I have a white car so its a little bit tricky to see it haze any advice?

    Thanks

I don't mean to be nosy, why don't you just use the "search" button on the top of the screen. There are lots of tips telling you how to apply the NXT techwax. You will find lots of helpful information there.

For white color car, I believe you can do a "swipe test" as suggested by Mike Phillips.

NXT Wax you have to let it set for 15 min... I have went as long as 2 hours no problem. I always apply to the entire vehicle let it set 15-30 min then remove! Works well, you will like the ease of use.

I always wait about 20 minutes. I can't remember what it says on the label, but you certainly need to wait 15-20 minutes in order for the polymers to set-up before removing the excess product.

The waiting time doesn't seem to affect the removal of the product. NXT Tech Wax is very easy to apply and remove!

I agree with the wait time being very important for NXT to show its ability.

Not very proud of this, But I have had NXT on for at least 8+ hours and rained on before I had the chance to wipe it down and I had no problems doing so.

          Good luck.

thanks... I also noticed that everyone here uses 2 coats of the tech wax. I plan to do so, and most of them say a good 12 hours is enough time before the second coating. Since I will be parking my car in the garage. Would I need to rewash it down or can I just use a duster to take out accumulated dust?

My first stop in this quest would be the label on the container.

If your not going to drive it, the California duster will do just fine, If your going to drive it you should at least do a Qd (quick detail)on it.

One coat of NXT Tech Wax will stand on its own; however, if you have the time, *definitely* apply a second coat approx. 12 hours apart.

I have found the best way for me to do this and not affect too much of my time, and my need to drive the car, is to plan my detailing session so that I end up applying the Tech Wax near the end of the day/evening.

I park the car in the garage overnight and then the next morning I CCD and then apply the second coat, allow 20 minutes for it to set-up and then wipe off the excess product.

What you'll notice about NXT Tech Wax is that the appearance gets even better after 24 hours of the second application!

                  Have Fun!

Doesn't mean to be a mean person. Because using the "Search" button can give you an idea how to do detailing for a better solution.

Sometime, I will print the threads, read and analyse the data before I post the threads. There should be some common solutions for some particular problems.

Thanks for everyones replies and suggestions. They are all appreciated. I'm a step closer to how I'm going to make my car look good. My last question is after you apply the second coat of tech wax do you have to wait another 12 hours if I want to apply the yellow wax (carnauba) or can I just do it after I buff out the 2nd application of the tech wax.

                      Many thanks again.

                        It all depends.

I'd wait 12-24 hours. Personally, I'd just top it with a wax the following week after my weekly wash.

However, like the pro detailiers, if you only have one detailing session with the car and time is an issue, you'll find that some people will apply a wax right after NXT.

It depends on how extreme you want to take your detailing. Most people wont' be able to tell a difference if you apply the #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax withing 15-20 minutes of removing the second coat of Tech Wax.

I spoke with our chemist about waxes and curing and what he told me was it for optimum results, you want to let a wax cure for a window of time, approximately 0 to 12 hours before exposing to water, (rain or washing), or applying a second or third coating.

The point is to enable enough time to go by to insure that all of the polymers, resins, silicones and waxes have fully set-up.

So it depends on how extreme you want to get. We don't want people to think they have to wait 12 hours before they can apply a second coat, that's just an extreme case scenario for the detailed oriented people. For the majority of people, applying the second, or third coat during the detailing session will be perfectly fine.

                          Here's an example,

We polished this black Corvette yesterday with #80 Speed Glaze and followed it with two applications of NXT Tech Wax back to back.

                          Before

                          After

Note: We did back this Corvette out after one coat of Tech Wax and I had everyone involved inspect the results. It looked great!

That said, a second coat made it even look better, it gave it a deeper, richer, more uniform look. The second coat of NXT was applied about 15 minutes after the first coat was removed.

All products were applied using the PC, the #80 Speed Glaze was removed by hand with microfiber, the two coats of Tech Wax were removed using Meguiar's microfiber Ultimate Bonnets on PC's.
