  • Im ashamed to admit this

this will bore the ones that have use GC .

i used Gold Class wash for the first time ever today. i had been using Duragloss (when i actually hand washed, thats another story in itself). So recently i started back hand washing. I bought some Armorall wash/wax soap. smelled good, but the suds went away quick. ive only used it maybe 5 times and a 2 of those was for the lawn mower and i swear i have used almost if not 1/4 the bottle. the suds start out strong but disappear quick. im waiting on my auto geek order and thought what the heck ill try the GC today. now i see what all the fuss is about. the suds just kept coming, its like they were endless i mean usually when im on my last section its just white looking stuff at the top of the water. you know what im talking about. i bet i topped off the water 3-4 good times and never added any more soap. i used i dont know no more than 2 cap fulls and every bit of 5 gals if not more. its the only soap ive used that i didnt have to add more soap to. sorry duragloss im breaking up with you. you cost more and i cant find you anywhere but on the wrong side of town anymore these days. the GC was worth every penny of the $7.58 it cost (Advance w/tax 64oz) i hate that i didnt buy a second jug now since they were buy 2 and get 20% off. oh well. sorry for the ramble.

Its ok, the beatings will begin shortly...

Be sure to mix it right, or close to right, it is meant to lubricate at a certain concentration.

You getting off easy. But at least you have learned what all the fuss is about Gold Class. Now throw the other stuff out.

Now, now. No need to flog the man - he's seen the light and is atoning for his past.

sas71, nice to see you're so please with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner. If you think the suds are great, pay attention to the look and feel of the paint after washing with it, especially on a beautifully prepped and waxed surface.

Personally, I don't make my car wash solution sud at all. I fill the bucket up with water, than add the solution and mix it in so there are zero suds meaning that the dilution ratio is spot on. What I will admit to is that as much as I love Gold Class, when the water is hard, I find NXT works a little better. With purer water though, I find it very hard to beat Gold Class.

From what I understand, the whole point of a car wash solution is to help add lubricity to the water to help prevent scratching. Anyone can clean a car with just water and a scrubber, but we are in the business of keeping a car looking its best, which means avoiding scratches.

At least that is how I look at it. I think it falls into the debate of sheeting vs beading and all that jaz. All just personal preference stuff I guess.

actually i was trying not to get all sudsy. i filled a 5gal bucket 1/3 the way with water then i added the GC..but still got plenty of suds because i used the "fill bucket" setting on my nozzel. the next time i wash it i think ill do that again but use the shower setting since its more of a flooding effect than a high pressure stream to see what that does.

im gonna use the Armorall for the wheels and wells and my lawn mower

I went from dish soap, old beach towel, wax in sun, remove with old beach towel.

We did the whole dish soap and sponges with scrubbers on the back (that were used!) and drying off with old beach towel routine for YEARS and didn't stop that up until about 4 years ago soon after I got my first car. Waxing our cars consisted of the few times we would drive it through the car wash with the 'spray on' wax from the wash machine, and even that was a treat! We never owned a bottle or tin of wax! LOL!

Needless to say, I have learned much!

I am right there with ya Wolf.

I have a questions that this thread might be good for. I live in an apartment. And needless to say there isn't a place provided where I can hook up a hose and fill a bucket and wash my car.

What I have been doing to this point is taking it to the local self serve wash and using the sprayer to spray it off weekly and then I dry it with a microfiber.

Any suggestions on what someone can do who doesn't have access to a covered driveway with a hose and bucket to wash a car the way it should be washed.

I appreciate any input on this.

Man, the entire consumer line, from maroon bottle through Gold Class up to NXT, is fantastic. For my money it represents the best value in car care products for the average guy. The Detailing line is great... but what do I need a gallon of ANYTHING for?
As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.

Same here, I used to say what do they have I can't already buy at my local stores.......

                              I now have a gallon of M40, M80, need some ASD/APC/SD/Glass Cleaner.

I still fall on ol' reliables though and use them. Nothing wrong with them. I only buy gallons of stuff I use a lot and still trying to figure that out with so many good products out there....
