  • NXT 2.0 first impressions

Originally I told the wife I was going to the parts store to get some rearview mirror adhesive, but when I arrived, this particular store has the detailing supplies on the first shelf right as you enter the door, so of course the NXT 2.0 was in the sunlight, its funky blue bottle reflecting like a prizm and I could hear it speaking to me..."you want me don't you?... buy me...you know you want to...I'll be your little secret..."

So of course I gave in to the voices (I know, I'm weak). I had dropped the wife off at a different store, so when I picked her up, it was like a scene from Edgar Allen Poe's "The Telltale Heart" with the bottle of 2.0 in a plastic bag mere inches away from her on the back floor. She asked me how much the glue was...I told her the truth...$0.95, she bought it... We get home and she decides to check the bank account on-line... I can see it start... I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU ONLY SPENT $0.95!!! Thinking quickly, I told her: "No. You only asked how much the glue cost." Then I ran like any man with half a brain would...straight to the Man Cave (AKA the garage) and hid until the earth stopped shaking and the lightning stopped coming out of the windows.

She must have triggered a real storm, because it rained for the next two days, but yesterday, I was able to put two light coats on. I used the PC on '4' with a finisnhing pad. I have to say this stuff spreads really nice, I don't think I used two oz to cover the whole car twice. Dividing each panel into sections, I buffed each section twice with a MF, the first pass was made slow & light to get off the majority of the haze (not that there was alot, in some places it was so thin, you couldn't see it unless you looked at just the right angle) and the second pass was lighter and slower to ensure all of the residue was removed. The MF was 'snapped' several times between passes and refolded to a clean section before continuing.

The first thing I noticed was how dang SLICK this stuff is...even with just the first application...as I was making the second wipe, you could definately feel how smooth and slippery the surface was. After the second application, the color of the paint had clearly deepened. Today I came out from work and found that my driver's door had been bombed...but even the bird bomb had beaded up. Fortunately I had UQD & a miocrofiber in the car. A quick spritz, a wipe and no trace of the bombing remained. As a matter of fact, even the coating of dust that usually settles on the car while I'm working seemed to be missing.

So far, I rate NXT 2.0

      Hey Don,

This story sound all to familiar. I kinda did the same thing 2 weeks ago. I told the better half I was going to the local Pep Boys to get oil and a filter because my oil change was overdue. I cannot possibly go into any auto parts store without going to the car wash/wax supply isle first, no matter what I am there to get. So over to the store I go, through the wax isle on my way to the back where they keep the oil and such. The first thing I noticed was that the Meguiars products were scattered all over the place. I was like, "who stocked the shelves, you can't mix Meguiars and T#@$le w$x on the same shelf!" Once I got over that, I went right to the shelf with the NXT 2.0. Into the basket it went! When I got home, I said, "you know what honey your car really needs to be washed and cleaned up a little, my oil can wait until tomorrow." So since I used the 2.0 on her car first, no issues. Not that there would have been anyway. But your story did sound familiar.

Just can't imagine what would have happened if you got a gallon of #26.
