Re: G220 Coming Soon to Australia!!!!
Hi Alex, unfortunately I was unable to pre order a G220 due to unforseen financial hiccups, I was just wondering if I would go through the same process to order one in?
Thanks

Re: G220 Coming Soon to Australia!!!!
buja - the G220 has a 12 month replacement warrenty.
professorsabre - we actually dont have any W9006 pads. the w8006 seems to be doing the job quite well at the moment
i assume ur talking about spare backing plates for the G220?
we don't have any at this point because we only brought in 60 G220's. if the demand goes up then we'll just have to see.
Cheers
Alex

Alex do we have any W9006 pads in Australia?
One last question will there be spare backing plates available if required?
Cheers

I know MotorActive are offering the choice of either a polishing or cutting pad with the G220, however I dont think Meg's recommend using a cutting pad with this machine. (I'm not quite sure why as you can use a cutting pad on a porter cable with great results).
Meguiar's does not recommend using our current W-7000 series Foam Cutting Pad on DA Polisher like the new G110, G220 or even the G100.
In some cases the pad works great, but in most cases the foam is too aggressive and will haze or micro-mar the clear coat. This is pretty easy to see and demonstrate on clear coated black paints but can be hard to see on lighter colors. It's important to understand that if it's happening to clear coated black and dark colors that it's also happening to lighter colors it's just that our eyes can't see this hazing as easily on lighter colors.
The hazing can be polished out, but this starts to make things complicated as far as teaching people that the cutting pad will remove the defects but also haze the paint, so now they need to remove the haze. It requires more pads, more steps and more products. If we recommend using our W-7006 Foam Cutting Pad with our DA Polisher, in a way it means that we're teaching people to haze their paint which just doesn't feel comfortable because we teach people how to create show car finishes, not haze their paint.
In most situations, the W-8006 can remove most defects if the polisher is used correctly, anything it cannot remove in a few applications, means either the defect is too deep or the paint is not very polishable and at this point we recommend people,
- Switch to a rotary buffer
- Learn to live with the deeper defects
- Hire a professional detailer that is proficient with the rotary buffer to remove the defects.
So at this time Meguiar's does not recommend "our" cutting pad for use with DA Polisher. Thanks for understanding, for what it's worth we've had to show a number of people how to remove the haze after they follow the advice on other forums that teach people to use cutting pads on DA Polishers and in the process they haze their paint and because so many people are "new" to machine polishing, they don't know how to recover from the hazing.
Originally posted by downesyI know there are alternatives using other brand, however it would be nice to stick with Meguiar's, especially since this product was developed for use with the G110/G220.
The Term "Dual Action" as it relates to M83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish
Can't believe everything you read on a discussion forum.

Have a look at this thread though and see the amount of paint correction you can achieve with Megs #83 (Dual Action Cleaner Polish) and an 8006 Polishing Pad on a G220.
Amazing how easy M83 is to use with the right technique! (http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23577) Some of you may have read the thread I posted a week or two ago called "PC 7424 first use - what am I doing wrong?" With some great tips and advice I was able to get some decent results using
Also Alex, will Meguiars be making #83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish available over here with the launch of the G220? I know there are alternatives using other brand, however it would be nice to stick with Meguiars, especially since this product was developed for use with the G110/G220.

Angelo - you probably spoke to amy. I will make sure that the pads are definately despatched with the unit.
VQHRZed - the G220 has a 4.75" backing plate designer for use with a 6" pad.
its only a velcro attachment and the W8006 is the best pad to use use with it.
Cheers
Alex
So do you suggest getting two W8006 pads or one of each, my main purpose for the G220 is to remove swirl marks.
