  • Meguiars fan for over 6 Years. Now need experts help.

Long story short, I love the Meguairs product line and stuck to it since my very first car. Now I feel that I need to educate my self about the proper use of products instead of just experimenting. Also will mention couple thing I've noticed.

Back when I had my Black Prelude I used NXT since the first day I bought it. But when ran out I bought Meguairs Gold Class, and it put me on my butt. The results were simply stunning and blew NXT AWAY. Deep, dark, wet look. But I felt like the protection wasn't the same so I started to mix them.

    Here are the questions.

    1) NXT & NXT 2.0 Is a mixture of sealant and WAX or just sealant?

    2) Since Carnuba does a much better job with deeper/wetter look then Synthetic, can they be mixed?

    3) If it can be mixed, What goes on first?

    4) How long to let it cure before applying second coat of the next product? *I would like to do this with in one wash.*

    5) NXT 2.0 Increases longevity over the previous product, THANK GOD. What about shine and achieving richness look of Gold Class, does 2.0 do a better job then the previous product?

Thank you for the help and for your viewing pleasures here are my car all detailed with Meguiars product line over the years. ENJOY!

Thanks to GOLD CLASS EVEN Silver can POP!!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

NXT 2.0 is considered a synthetic protectant.

Personally, I wouldn't mix two different protectants. There may be some problems with shelf life.

Typically, you want to apply the synthetic first and the apply a coat of carnuaba over top - NXT 2.0 then Gold Class.

It is hard to say exactly how long it will take NXT 2.0 to haze. Temp, humidity, and amount applied all play major factors. There should be a link in the List O' Links that is called 'The Swipe Test.' That will give the explanation.

You may want to consider a spray protectant or spray wax for a quick detail after washing. It won't offer the level of protection of a true protectant, but it still works well.

It's hard to compare two protectants. It ends up being just a personal thing. For example, I prefer NXT 2.0 over Gold Class.

I never got around to using the original NXT, but I use #21 all the time. I find that NXT 2.0 is much easier to apply and remove. Plus, the shine and depth are excellent.

Re: Meguiars fan for over 6 Years. Now need experts help.

Normally I would put synthetic down first with a carnauba base wax on top.

However I would probably reverse that due to NXT2.0's hydrophobic quality.

Also you absolutely have to try #26. Currently I've got #7 followed by NXT (ver1) on one of my cars and I'll soon layer with #26.

            NXT/#26 is a great combo.

I agree with PorscheGuy997 on every point. To chime in on NXT, Gold Class and NXT 2.0; they get better and better in every way. In my opinion NXT is much better than Gold Class and NXT 2.0 is much better than the original NXT. But also like Chris said, its a personal preference. So I suggest doing a couple different combinations untill you find what you like!!

Googled # 7 and sounds really interesting with great results.... Deep Wet Look. But it doesn't last . Then again it wasn't ment to last i guess.
