  • whats on top?

I washed, polished, sealed my black corvette with meg.products, top coat nxt2.0. A friend(ownes a body shop) said he always uses #7 glaze as a top coat. I put some #7 on top of the NXT2.o and everything still looks great. I think NXT 2.o should be the top coat over the # 7 glaze right. Also should you let the #7 dry? The directions do not say to so I applied the #7 and wiped it off right away with a microfiber towel.
Also does NXT 2.0 layer,or does one coat remove the next? Thanks all.

From my understanding, it should be #7 and then nxt because the #7 is a pure polish and offers no protection. Also, When layering NXT 2.0, you need to allow a minimum of 12 hours between coats to allow the wax to cure.

        # 7 could be used last, but would wash off quite quickly in the rain and offer no protection. So if you want some sort of protection, a wax/sealant would have to come after.

#7, like all the pure polishes, does not need to dry to remove.

And it is not really about "layering" to get two layers thick. You want 2 coats to provide uniform coverage, making sure you have not missed a spot, etc. And waiting 12-24 hours between coats is for best looks, but at least 15-20 minutes will get you most of the way there.

M07, or "Show Car" glaze, can be put on top of wax. The idea here is for a show or something similar where you want the paint to look really wet. The only downside is that it will wash off the next time the car gets washed. It won't hurt being on top of the wax, but it won't do anything as far as protection.

so.. could you do 7, nxt, 16, then for a show put 7 on top for looks? or would that really even matter?

It would be one of those things that likely only a trained eye would notice. And doing so could also mess with the wax you are applying over, possibly removing that protection as well.

I suggest on sealing #7 with your wax, it will last longer.

                    Re: whats on top?

One thing to remember too is that M07 was originally designed for single stage paint cars, where putting M07 on top would probably make a noticeable difference. Like Murr is saying, on a BC/CC car, you probably wouldn't be able to tell.

                      Re: whats on top?

Just to clarify, I meant that if you had a dark car, and used a cleaner, #7, and #16 (or other good wax), you are already at about the best looks you can get. Adding more on top isnt going to do much more.

thanks guys. I think my friend at the body shop was just going for shine before customer pick up. I will put the NXT 2 on top. I use a 7424 polisher which does not mis many spots when set on 1 r 2 to top coat. I sure enjoy polishing the corvette,5 " of snow here today. Come on warm weather so we can drive these things.
