  • NXT 2.0 after wash, what's your take?

Well for those of use lucky enough to get our hands on NXT 2.0 I am curious what everyone thinks of it after a wash or two.

I applied NXT 2.0 a few weeks back (just a note, I did not apply Ultimate Quik Detailer like I normally would, just because I wanted to see how the wax was alone) and liked it and all that and I see that we have a few threads on applying and removing and such, but nothing on a wash or two later. I just washed for the first time since the initial application and I was very happy with the results.

During the wash I noticed that most of the salt and road grime rinsed off easily with just a spray of the hose. Water also beaded up nicely and floated off the surface with the flooding technique, which was comparable, if not better, to regular NXT topped with UQD.

Drying the in winter even in a heated garage has always been a struggle since water likes to continue to streak. The advent of UQD helped and the same Hydrophobic Polymer Technology is at work in NXT 2.0.
I noticed water was easier to dry and was less prone to streaking just drying with two microfibers (one for the intial water pickup and another to get the rest). Usually I have to make three to four passes to pick up water in the winter (and I would imagine a few cold weather members will agree).

As far as slickness goes, I don't remember ever testing for it after a wash and just normal NXT. But I found that with NXT 2.0 the slickness is comparable to the initial application and does not seem like any of that went away even with all the salt and such that I drove through over the past two weeks.

I am just curious what all you other NXT 2.0ers think after a wash or two.

I've a coat of NXT 2.0 on my truck for 7 weeks now with 3 NXT Tech Wash washes. This last time I used UQD on it to enhance the look........just the look. The 7 week old NXT was still beading and still felt soft and slick after washing/drying!

The UQD darkened my yellow and increased the slickness. I like how easy it is to use. I do the windows with it with NO streaking......even in the sun.

This is a very nice combo that I will be using on all of my customer's vehicles.

Sure there are threads. Quite a few of them actually. You just have to know where to look. On the old CS forum under "Product Reviews" many of us tested a product 1st known as LSP 20-139E. Since it came to market everyone now knows it as NXT 2.0. In my review, I washed and dried the test panel 5, 10, then 15 times and even took pictures for everyone to see how well it was holding up. Skip on over to the old forum and you'll be impressed with the amount of info on LSP 20-139E, er, NXT 2.0.

I have an interesting question. Many of us use beading during wash as a gauge to see if there's any protectant left (sealant/wax). But what happens if you use UQD regularly, which also has hydrophobic properties? How can you tell if you have any protection left?

For other products, people mention sealants last ~3-6 months, whereas wax lasts ~4-6 weeks (varying factors aside).

With NXT 2.0 being so new, do you guys have an idea of its durability? It's supposed to be a sealant, so is it 3-6 months? Or more like 4-6 weeks like its 'wax' name sake?

I'm planning my detailing routine, and am wondering if I should re-apply NXT 2.0 every 1, 3 or 6 months? I'm living in California, so not subject to extreme weather conditions. I know it doesn't hurt to apply more often, but I'd like to know what the limits are. E.g. If product X lasts 6 months, and you re-apply every month, that sounds like overkill! I love detailing, but trying to be practical with my time =)

        Thanks,

Applying NXT every 2-3 months should be plenty good to insure you always have good protection on the paint as long as you're not washing in any aggressive type manner.

          p.s.

The NXT is all synthetic but the word "wax" was chosen as the descriptive word for the label because the majority of enthusiasts in the world understand what a wax is and when and how it's used, when you start using terms/words like "Paint Sealant" or Paint Protectant", or fill in the blank with your favorite word/term for a product that protects paint you can confuse the customer, so from a marketing and sales point of view you want to use the KISS system, Keep it Simple Simon

We know in the "Discussion Forum World", people can get real AR about words and terms but at the end of the day what's most important is that you know what the product is that you're using, (NXT Tech Wax is a paint protectant), and that you're happy with the results in all it's dimensions.

Re: NXT 2.0 after wash, what's your take?

I applied the first coat of NXT 2.0 to my Corvette at Christmas time, and drive the car daily, so it has seen a lot of road salt (especially this year, as we've gotten an almost record amount of snowfall) A few weeks ago when I was getting it's weekly car wash at the local detail shop, one of the guys washing my car commented on the fact that the paint still felt freshly waxed to him, as his wash mitt was gliding across the paint very nicely. So there is a little bit of proof right there that NXT 2.0 is very durable!

Part of me wanted to see just how far that first coat of NXT 2.0 would go, but yesterday was sunny and close to 40 degrees, so I washed my car in my own driveway and when it was done I couldn't resist putting on a fresh coat of NXT 2.0.
