How long does NXT2 last, would you think I could apply the NXT spray wax after 12 month to freshen up the wax?

The NXT Spray Wax has not been reformulated to include the new technology used in both the NXT 2.0 and M21 2.0, so theoretically it won't last as long. Our new UQD is trending to cannibalize sales of the spray wax because it gives you the same results in an easier to use product.
Not sure if NXT 2.0 will last a year if that's what your hoping for and expecting unless you're not driving the truck and thus it's never seeing any wear and tear through daily use and repeated washings.
Sure made the red paint on this Mini Cooper *pop* at our Open Garage class last night as well as the back half of this Mercedes-Benz.

Since NXT 2.0, using a non-hydrophobic wax product over one that has hydrophobic properties would negate and diminish its qualities, being very counterproductive in what your setting out to acheive. So if your going to use NXT 2.0 do what I do. After I apply NXT 2.0 I stand back in awe, then the next day after it cures I'll detail my ride with UQD or M135 (both while being essentially the same and the best detailing sprays ever, also serve as NXT 2.0's wax booster). So after a full UQD detail, the end result has me thinking to myself how really amazing and unparalleled NXT 2.0, UQD and all of Meguiar's products are, and every few days I repeat.
