The only thing I can say is the original Quik Detailer is a great detailer. Ultimate Quik Detail has hydrophobic technology and gives incrediblebeading action. I've gone from Quik Detailer to Ultimate. I'll use up the Quik Detailer I have as a clay lube but it's UQD for me from now on !

I agree, but it should be noted that UQD is NOT recommended for use as a clay lube.

I just got some QD in the clay bar kit and was wondering what was up. I'd rather use a soap solution to save it if it was as good as the UQD. Due to lack of availability of meguiars products I purchased a Mother's kit... I loved that QD! I'm sure Meg's is better, and if the UQD is best I'll just burn my QD on the claying.

The clay kit comes with QD because you shouldn't use UQD or soap/water mix to clay with.

Agreed, water and clay are not the best mix...I've also gotten a gallon of Final Touch and dilute it 2:1 for my clay lube...cheaper and very effective...fwiw..

I don't think we can have a QD vs. UQD thread without mentioning the improved ease of removal and non-streaking abilities. The UQD is very hard to make streak and will usually be removed in a swipe or two while sometimes QD might streak and need three to four swipes with a microfiber to remove.

I notice in the winter that most products are a little tougher to remover without streaks but UQD is very easy to remove even in colder climates.

Ps : I used it for claying too

Will it hurt any thing if I wax my truck then later that day come back in with Qd to take off all the dust then put the last coat of Gc on?

That would be best, with the regular QD.

I am not sure if UQD would be as good for that, since it leaves its own coating behind, then trying to wax over it.

From what everyone has said: if your car gets a little dirty or hit by the sprinklers then you would want to use QD first, then UQD to finish off? Seems redundant to me...doesn't UQD help lubricate to remove dirt too?

                          Re: UQD vs QD?

Yes UQD does lubricate to help remove light dust or a little bit of dirt without scratching, so you would be fine using UQD only. Sometimes people will wash the car and then use UQD to add a little protection and gloss, but if you are just using UQD to remove a little dirt, there is no reason to use QD first.

So I can GcWax on at 9 Am later that day use UQD to take off the dust then put the last coat of Gc wax on?

My only concern is that because UQD leaves its own coating behind, it may affect how the wax goes on, or applies, etc.

It probably is not enough of a coating to worry about, but might need Mike or Mike or Tim to chime in on this one.
