  • Anyone else have difficulty with NXT paste?

I finally had a chance to show my truck a little love and decided to use my jar of NXT paste since I rarely ever use it. In fact, I had used it once before and while the application wasn't a total PITA, it wasn't the greatest either, so its just sat there for a while. I thought it was crummy weather at the time but I still didn't pick it back up til today. Anyways, I pulled it out today and started applying it and it gummed up my foam pad pretty quickly and didn't spread very easily for me (this is by hand). I've been applying paste waxes by hand for a few years now so I'm pretty used to using the least amount of product necessary, so I'd like to think we can rule out user error. I used a sample of liquid NXT once and it wasn't nearly this bad. Has anyone else had this problem with NXT paste?

I was very impressed with the final results, but achieving them took a bit more effort than I would have liked.

I use NXT paste I do use it via PC but I have been very happy with its application. My can is about 2 years old.

I've had some trouble with the NXT paste as well, only most of my problem came with it streaking during removal. I did the swipe test, and while it was cool and cloudy out and the paint was a little hot, and while it seemed to swipe clear, it streaked a lot during removal. Probably due to the paint being too hot (black) and worn microfiber, because it didn't do it when I did it in the garage where the paint was very cool or on my dads white paint with freshly washed microfiber.

I am going to be getting some liquid, as I believe it will probably work out a bit better.

What has been done to prep the paint recently? The worse condition, the harder it is to apply the LSP.

Truck received a full detail about a month and a half ago (wash, clay, polish, wax). Then yesterday I washed it and did quick passes with #80 via PC. Not really to correct anything, as there were no defects, but to strip the wax and add some polishing oils to the paint. To top it off, the truck is only a few months old. So the condition of the paint is near perfect.
