  • Did i do something wrong?

I am avid user of nxt ,I have applied it a few times in the last few months to my black bmw with nice results. After washing it with meguiar's car wash,I applied a coat of nxt in my shop with the portal cable and the 9006 finishing bonnet using speed 3 .Let it dry for 20 mins(mike states this is the proper drying time) and started to take it off with a mf towel. The product was a little hard to remove and i had to go over each panel a few times.I finished the vehicle by going over it with final inspection and a terry towel. When i pulled he car out in the sun,the hood and trunk lid were all smeared and spotty and un even.Did the final inspection do this?I kept buffing with a mf towel and it didnt get any better.Did i do something wrong?????? I reapplied a second coat it only came out a little better. Will the nxt cure over a 24 hr period and even out? Thanks Ken

When using NXT apply it as if it is the last bottle on earth. when I apply it to heavy it's a bear to get off and feels sticky. some times it will double the Microfiber under my hand. I use at least 2-3 Microfibers on a veh to remove NXT. as for the smeared and spotty and un even spots I can not comment on. just not sure.

Actually, the drying time is 10-15 minutes or until it swipes clear.

The only time I have ever experienced difficulty in removal is when I applied to thick of a coat. Was it really warm out when you applied it?

It actually was'nt that warm at all,Maybe like 78.I think the problem with the spottness and smears happened after i applied the final inspection to the vehicle. Any thoughts?

I have recently found I get the smeary effect as well when only one coat is applied, after a second application, it is much easier to remove, and any smears/haze are gone.

You're not supposed to use a QD like FI or FD for at least 12-24 hours, or until after the sealant has had time to cure.

FI and FD only streak for me if the surface is very warm, like after just driving the car. Sometimes they don't streak even on a warm surface.

If you apply a second coat of NXT, removing it with an Ultimate Bonnet on a PC will probably eliminate the streaks.

I've had NXT to streak a little, but it cured out the next day...Haven't had any problems with removal though.

I have had NXT streak by my own fault. While applying by hand I learned to apply a thin bead of NXT to the outer edge of the pad and spiral inwards if I don't do this and the outer portion of the pad runs low on NXT it will lift the previously applied NXT leaving a streak that can be see at certain angles. I have not done the NXT x2 yet.
