  • NXT Tech vs. Klasse AIO/SG ?????

Anyone do a performance comparison yet for these? I am so curious to find which has better appearance and which has better durability and which is easiest to handle....

NXT is the best stuff I have ever used so far but wonder if there is better out there...

I guess there is no end to this as distinction of appearance requires constantly raising the bar, or number of coats on the paint, hehe.

I have a test running on my hood now. Two weeks and both are holding up well. I refreshed just the hood with half AIO/SG and NXT wax on the other. The depth and shine look the same to me at the initial application.
I will try to wash this weekend if the weather cooperates.

Great, I am glad this is being tried...

I am still waiting to receive my Klasse kit so that i can start my own test. So, is what you are saying is that both product produce a similar look?? Please tell us more!

Got my Klasse kit and tried...

2xAIO and 2xSG and it resulted in the same appearance as 4xNXT tech wax passes. I tested on a door panel tonight. Now the only question is which one is able to achieve a more show car appearance and more durable. Klasse doesn't smell like the heavenly aroma of the NXT but SG works like a very serious product with very clear directions. It's acrylic, which has advantages of flexibility, layerability, multi uses including glass, and long life. More later.

          Results from Klasse Comparison

Simply put, Klasse is amazing stuff!. Hear is a testament that knowledge brings progress. The last several days have been very learningful, through research of advanced surface care chemicals, namely the way Germans protect their non porous surfaces.

Klasse came out with as much "Pop" as NXTx6 with Sealant glaze x 2 and has the ability to be layered further. After some research about Polyethylene/Acrylic protectants, mainly from German websites, Klasse has specific advantages as well, like the ability to be used on other non porous surfaces like metal and even car glass. Here is where it gets even more fascinating. When Klasse is layered on all panels of the car, including window panes, it blocks UV and reduces interior heating in a car.

Result: I am using NXT on my daily daily driver as long as I have it, but the move to Klasse is inevitable for me.

As a long time user of silicone based products like Meguiars, I have now found the improvement over it, acrylic based sealants. Funny thing is that this technology has been in Germany for several decades now, utilized by the boating and flight hobbyists.

            Alexandra,

I really find it fascinating how chemical engineers and chemists can address the same problem, protecting and beautifying automotive finishes, and come up with so many different valid solutions!

I like the Klasse products over the traditional waxes on some types of paint, specifically silver and other metallic colors. That being said, I only bought the Klasse because I'd read so much about it. I already had Meg's #20.

There's not so much difference in apearance that I can tell between the two products. Both are excellent choices. Klasse has a higher initial cost, but an ounce of SG will do a Trailblazer or a Tahoe, and Klasse has a reputation for EXTREME durability. #20 also goes on thin, and has a reputation for durability specifically against water. I'd toss a coin, and be extremely satisfied with either, and not look back.

As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.

              perpetual noob,

NXT smells much better and is very easy to apply and remove, making it a very enjoyable waxing experience. Klasse was designed more for high end automobiles, aircraft, yachts, and the like. No regard was given to waxing pleasantness when it comes to Klasse. Maybe someday Klasse will come in pleasant flavors. Until then, at least I only have to apply AIO/SG maybe 3 times a year. I am still not done with the entire car as most of my panels still have multiple passes of NXT. Luckily NXT and Klasse look nearly identical so onlookers cannot tell the difference, just that its a showcar shine altogether. I am taking my own sweet time transferring new coats of Klasse AIO and SG onto the rest of the car, may take the next week to accomplish the complete transformation. I have said it already, but it is fascinating that Klasse works on glass and metal trim. I will probably protect the tailpipe tips with it too. It will be interesting to find if it burns off the tailpipe tips, as well, but I doubt it will, as I have seen in Germany, engine spray-on detailing sprays that apply a layer of acrylic to the engine compartment covers.
              Regards,
              Alexandra

                Show Cars

I have read with some interest the thoughts put forth so far in this thread. Please understand I am not meaning to flame anyone.
Alexandra appears to have read very thoroughly the material provided by Klasse and she has accepted it as fact as opposed to advertising claims. I'm not knocking Klasse - it works very well and I too have the twins on my shelf.
With regards to the show car claims I attended probably a dozen top notch shows last year including the Nats in Louisville where there were over 10,000 Street Rods (some trailer queens included worth 6 figure amounts). I paid particular attention to what products were being used for that "show car shine". Never saw Klasse anywhere although Lord knows I looked. I saw lots of Eagle One, tons of Meguiars and odd use of other "consumer products"
I am well aware of what the Klasse products will do on my vehicles. On my silver unit I could not tell the difference between Klasse and NXT except that the Klasse will be more durable and the NXT will require much less effort (my expectation on the durability rather than experience at this point).
Now when I apply both products to my marroon unit there is no comparison. NXT pops and sparkles like nothing else I have used.
If I compare the two products side by side there is just no doubt as to the true winner.
Both vehicles have well maintained finishes so the comparison only displays the products applied.
I am very pleased with the NXT and will most certainly continue to use it. The bottom line is to use a product because you like it with no concern for hype or advertising claims. I tried it : I like it!

The owners of something like 24 Best of Class Winners at last years Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance used Meguiar's. I have the exact numbers but I don't have access to them right now. I will tomorrow and I'll double check and post the correct number if my memory is wrong.

I think the cars entered at the most prestigious car show in the world would classify as high end automobiles. Also, Meguiar’s has been used on more Best of Class Winners at Pebble Beach since records have been kept. I would say that's a fairly good indicator of a product worthy of the high-end automobiles you mentioned in your post.

That said, the most important thing, is how a product looks to you on your vehicle's finish.

Here’s a shot of the sun reflecting directly onto the hood of a Ford Lightning Truck that we applied NXT Tech Wax to this last Saturday. I did none of the work on this car. The owner clayed it, then applied #83 DACP, and then topped with one coat of NXT Tech Wax. The photo is the raw image.

Not bad compared to how it looked in the sun to start with...

Backing up Mike's point, the guy I get all my Meguiars stuff from is the exclusive detailer for when any new Maybach is delivered to the area. Naturally all he uses are Meguiars products on them. I haven't seen one in person, but I'm told the paint on one looks like it's 3 feet thick. Now if a quarter million dollar car isn't enough to be "high end" I don't know what is.

Where is the testament? (Your research?) Meguiar's is used at the OEM level at the BMW plant in Dinglefing, Germany. I don't think Klasse is. The products used at an OEM level must be wax and silicone free so that they do not interfere with surface adhesion. Also, wax, or a sealant is the last consideration at the OEM level. The first consideration as it relates to automotive finishes are sanding papers, compounds, paint cleaners, cleaner/polishes, pure polishes and application materials like foam pads, (Meguiar’s invented the foam pad for buffing paint in 1965).

                      ???
I have applied a layer of Klasse SG onto clear glass and let it dry and it did not dry clear. Also, I have yet to see someone prove to me that a car wax can be layered and not cloud the surface. (This goes back to the clarity of the product after it dries).

So today is March 2nd, and as of February 13th you had not yet received your Klasse kit? So assuming you received your Klasse kit on the 14th, you have had the Klasse Kit for a total of 17 days including today. And you have already come to the conclusion that the move to Klasse is inevitable?

What? Meguiar's products are silicone based? Where did you get this misinformation? Can you post a link?

I would really like to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you’re making it really hard. Your posts read like you're a fan of Klasse, which is okay with us, (Use what you like, that's what's best for you), but to start posting misinformation like you did above really calls your credibility into question.

I'm more than willing to try to help you get the best results from your time money and efforts, but if you’re mind is already made up after 17 days of detailing your car, perhaps you should share your passion for Klasse products on a Klasse discussion forum? Honest debate welcome by the way.

I guess Klasse could be used in the Aircraft and Boating industries, just like Turtle Wax is used in these industries. But in these manufacturing industries they need non-silicone products like our Professional Line for machine buffing fresh paint, boat molds, and finished parts, (finished parts can be a kitchen sink, or it can be a 75' Yacht). These industries also use Meguiar's Mold Release Systems, which Meguiar's for the most part invented in the 1950's when the fiberglass and reinforced plastics industry was born.

Acrylic based sealants appear to be related to floor wax type products. If this is true, and I'm not saying it is, but I will check into it, then if you like the idea of using floor wax type products oh your automotive finish, then again, if it looks good in your eyes, then this is the product for you.
