  • Wax setting time..

    Hello,

I have read around here that most of meguiars products require setting time inbetween different products, say between paint cleaner and polish then inbetween polish and wax. So is this true and how long should i let them sit?

    Thanks!!

I've never waited in between steps.....except for applying the second coat of wax, that I wait untill the next day.
I do always use the same starting point on a vehicle, so by the time I come around things did sit for a little while anyway.

The only thing i heard was with NXT let it sit about 20-30 min before you buff it off.

          Hey,

You can apply any of Meguiar's: cleaners, polishes, or glazes one after another without any wait in between coats. It is with the Sealants like NXT, #20, MPPP that require a person to wait overnight to a apply a second coat. Sealants need time to set up properly, hence the waiting. Otherwise, there should be no problems!

All of the Meguiar's waxes should be allowed to dry to a haze before removing. How long this takes depends on the temperature, wind and humidity but it's usually around 10 - 15 minutes.

There is no drying time required for paint cleaners, cleaner/polishes and pure polishes.

I didn't realise that sealants needed a curing time.
Is this only for multiple coats of sealant or do I need to wait before applying anything on top of them?

I've been applying #7, #20, #26 (or NXT) one after another with the only waiting time being between coats of wax, should I change the way I do it for even better results?

p.s. you guys have already helped me more than you'll ever know just from reading posts on here for a few weeks, thanks!!

                  Hi Dave,

Meguiar's cannot speak for other companies products and how long they require to before removing. All paint protection products manufactured by Meguiar's are formulated to be applied, and then left to dry to a haze before removing. This should only take 10 - 15 minutes in most climates. It will take longer in a cold, wet high humidity climate and less time in a hot, dry climate. But no paint protectant in the Meguiar's line should be applied and then removed instantly. If you do this, chances are you are removing the majority of the product.
