  • How much shine from NXT Vinyl Protector?

I have a GTI with a dull black matte dash. I would like to protect it, but keep the dull black matte look. Will NXT Vinyl Protector provide too much shine?

    Hi dmkozak

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Tech Protectant is not a high shine product, it does add a lot of richness however. Apply thoroughly to your dash, allow the product to penetrate for 20-30 seconds and then give the dash a gentle wipe with a premium quality microfiber and you will have a beautiful looking dash, well protected with a matte finish.

I don't know if anyone would agree with this statment or not, but I would say nxt makes the dash look wet instead of shiney. really richens up the color.

I think NXT has a satin finish although that may depend on what the orginial finish looks like to begin with...my Z definately has a satin finish...my old jeep had a glossy finish after applying the NXT..but both look nicer than when I started..

Here's the after shot of the 99 Corvette from the Extreme Makeover thread. I used the NXT Tech Protectant and was very happy with the look.

I'd agree with that. NXT is the best product I've ever used on my interior plastic and vinyl. It really looks amazing, and I even like the smell too.

If you work it in, pause a couple seconds, then wipe it off with a clean section of your towel, you won't get much gloss. I'm getting as many comments on the interior of my car as I do on my exterior (1999 Z28). Most people can't believe my car is over 5 years old!

The gloss seem to depend on the surface too. My Camry looked very shiny but the 04 Acura TL was not. Yes, you have to wipe if off after a few minutes to remove the oily stuff off. I bought some 303 Aerospace Protectant and I'll compare the two. Most users of the 303 say that it is not glossy or oily at all.

Whenever I applied NXT then wiped down my dash I felt like I was pulling all the NXT off w/ a MF towel so now I just deal w/ the shine, things could be worse

on my gm truck I felt the same way, it would also streek real bad, I let it sit over night and did it and it was better, but still did it. on my dodge truck I don't have this problem at all. the plastic in the dodge seems to bond with the nxt where my gm seems to just let it sit on top.
