Don't drop the NXT bottle

While applying the 2nd coat of NXT, I momentarily placed the bottle on top of the trunk lid of the Camry. Well, it slid off to the pavement. The plastic bottle is a bit brittle so cracked due to that short fall. Hopefully the duct tape I mended it with will hold the remaining wax. Hate for it to go to waste. It is still half full.

You could alway's pour it a cheap water bottle that has a flip nozzle on it. Or do what I would do buy another NXT.

A discussion like this came up in the past and one of the comments went something like this,

The plastics used to make bottles is becoming more brittle because of EPA regulation forcing plastic makers to continually modify their plastic formulas to comply with the new and more strict regulations.

So in an effort to improve the world in which we live in, the government has a way of affecting our lives in very small ways but sometimes very noticeable ways.

I too have dropped and broken bottles recently, one bottle was a ColorX bottle which I poured off into another ColorX bottle that was almost empty, and the other was a Tech Wax bottle that I taped like you till it was gone.

I simply poured my dropped cracked bottle of NXT contents into a squirt bottle and it worked great!

Just think of the NXT didn't work so well in making the finish so smooth, you would'nt have to worry about the bottle sliding off. But seriously I would just put in into another bottle.

Its funny... Plastic use to be advertised as un-breakable, It seems to me there use to be ads put out by plastic manufactures showing the pros to plastic and one was you caould drop it and nothing would happen. Now it seems they break as easy as glass!

I purchased one of the Meguiar's squeeze bottles and haven't used it yet, but detailing my car this past weekend walking around with a PC and a 32 oz. bottle of #81 in my hand made me understand why Meguiar's offers these type of bottles. Easy to carry and use.

I'm going to go buy a few more at lunch time today!

Plus, if your wearing an apron, (Like Meguiar's shop apron), they are easy to slip into one of the two side pockets!

I know the feeling... I dropped a 3/4's full bottle of #3 Machine Glaze onto my garage floor For some strange and inexplicable reason, it landed right on the cap and in the upside down/upright position. I thought it was okay until I tried to apply some #3 to a roof I was polishing...

I then remembered that I had a squeeze bottle that I had not yet used... problem solved!

Actually, you make an excellent point. Government regulation is a MAJOR reason we have lost so much manufacturing jobs to overseas locations. I would bet that China, Japan, Taiwan, and others do not have such extensive plastic regulations.

I wonder if anyone did a cost/benefit analysis before these new plastic regulations were put in place.

Ironically, I have never broken any of the Meguiar's bottles that I have dropped but they were older Pro-line bottles. I do have a FI bottle that dribbles from the spray head though.

BTW, you should never place any kind of plastic bottle on a painted car surface, the opportunity to scratch the paint is too great. I'm sure most of us have done that at one time or another though.
