Do you garage your car at night or during the day? I find that this radically changes the beading ability. I never get results that good with my daily driver that sits outside 24-7. I put on NXT about a two months ago and it has stopped beading. I must say that for this reason I like the NXT spray wax. It gives a quick refresh to the wax without as much effort.
I have also seen similar results on my 2002 Buick Rendezvous that's dark blue. I wanted to test the durability of Tech Wax. On Good Friday, I clayed the paint and applied one coat of Tech Wax.
Since that time, during the Pennsylvania monsoon season, it's been exactly twice and not QD'd at all. It sits under a carport at night and in an open parking lot at work.
Today, I'd rate the beading exactly the same as JFELBAB. I think the durability so far has been excellent.
I washed my RX330 with NXT Tech Wash, two bucket method with a sheepskin mitt. I clayed it with Mothers clay and followed up with MPPC with a PC. I then applied NXT Tech wax with a PC and layered a second coat 24 hours later. I wash the RX about every week with NXT Tech Wash and dry with a MF. No QD or anything else except for a small area on the roof that caught a bird dropping. My RX is garaged every evening but is out in the weather every day. We've had a lot of rain here this spring, at least three times a week it gets a free wash from the rain.
And 2000, yes I still like the look of #26 on red.
I may switch to NXT on my MR2 but I need to test the look. I'll probably detail my MR2 next week too so when I do I'll do half of the hood in NXT and the other half with #26 and see if I can notice the difference.
I'm coming up on about 3 months with NXT and the shine is still great and the rain rolls right off. The car is only outside when i am at work - at home it is in the garage. The heat and sun here takes a toll on the finish.
NXT should be applied to a clean surface for the best bonding and maximum durability.
When I got a new car, I applied NXT. The look was great at first; however, the slickness of the product didn't seem to last for more than a couple weeks.
I found out that my new car had a ton of rail dust so I clayed the car and the NXT slickness and look lasted much longer.
This past weekend, I cleaned the car using DC#1 (squeaky clean!), polished with #81, and then applied two coats of NXT.
The car looks great and is the smoothest, glossiest, and slickest it's looked yet since I owned it. I'll be interested in seeing how long the slickness and look last now that I've applied to a very clean and prepped surface.
I am finding out, as others have, that the cleaner the surface when NXT is applied, the better the products performance.
jfelbab,
just a note for you, I redid my black truck in #26 becaause I thought I liked the old look better. when I finished I thought it look pretty good but over a couple of days I noticed that with#26 its a greatly detailed vehicle, but when the nxt was on it it stood out in a crowd. it's a small difference that the average person probablly couldn't point out, but most of us on these forums could. but you get get an extra kick when your in a parking lot and your paint has something that most of the other cars don't. I'm going back to nxt for sure on black, let me know what you think on red.
I have a red Vette with 2 coats of NXT on it. If it ever stops raining here I will have to get it out of storage and take some pictures for you guys. It looks great. I will be on vacation next week...so it wont be until after that... sorry
I've seen some awesome performance of NXT topped by #26 and also NXT topped by #16. I'm going to try one of these some day, but for now, it's just NXT.
