  • #2 Polish Question

    Hi Folks:

I had a weird problem using #2 Deep Crystal Polish yesterday. The following is on a 2000 Acura (white) -- paint in very good condition, but was looking just a little dull.

After I used the clay bar, I applied Step #2 Deep Crystal Polish with the Meguiars buffer. I'm not a newbie and have done this many times before.

However the polish was very difficult to remove and required pretty extensive rubbing. Of course after waxing, everything looked fine. But I feel that the polish should have come off much easier.

Of course I shook it and it was a warm day. I tried removing it quicker -- no change.

I can't think of any other reason for this. It's like it stuck to the paint.

Does polish get old? (This bottle is probably about a year old.)

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You know something I had the exact same problem about three weeks ago my polish is about 2 years old. Let me tell you I wasn't sure I was going to get it off, I kid you not. So I have the same question, what is the problem?

I too used the Porter cable buffer and I applied the paint cleaner prior to the polish.

I do know, I am not going to use that bottle again its going in the trash. I might switch to something in the mirror glaze line anyway.

Just a guess here, but maybe the paint was a little dirtier than you thought and could have benefited from a pre-cleaner. Perhaps the mechanical action of the PC combined with the polish brought up some "gunk" that was making it difficult to remove.

By any chance has he been using zymol?

I suppose it's possible...although, like I said, I've done this procedure quite a number of times on several different vehicles (inluding this one) and this has never happened.

        I never used zymol.

ok... not to sure what to think of this but I called meguiars and they said if you let it sit to long it will be difficult to remove you should not let it dry.

            Thanks...

After it started to happen, I tried to remove it pretty quickly with the same results. It was very weird in that I'd done the exact same procedure before and it always worked fine.

Hey, your truck looks great...I haven't found NXT near me yet...can't wait.
