  • hot shine

I used hot shine in the liquid form the other day and seemed to have problems with it drying. The areosal alays dried to a shell like finish, the liquid stayed wet. anyone notice this before? is this normal?

I notices it too. The trigger spray product takes a very long time to set.

I get good results using the trigger spray and waiting about 15 min. then wiping off the excess with a clean cloth.

I also like the looks of NXT protectant on the tires. Scrub tires clean and apply, wait then buff off. Doesn't last all that long but the second application seems to look even better so I suspect some of the product actually embeds itself into the tires.

yes, its much better today from yesterday, just doesn't have quite the shell feel as the areosal. I'm going to try nxt next. I find that as long as it last untill my next wash I;m happy because I always redo them when I wash anyway.
      thanks for the imput!

        Hey 2000,

I think what is happening is that the liquid Hot Shine is being applied too thick. It is difficult to apply it thin with a pump type spray. So, take a sponge applicator and spread it around and see if that helps. I would also wipe off any excess after waiting few minutes or so.

diffinnitally thick, as I couldn't seem to get the applicator to release product to the tire. I'll try again, but it wouldn't break my heart to stay with the aerosal, just wanted to see which one lasted longer

I applied Hot Shine with spray and evened it all out with foam pad. It seemed to last great with no rain but after it rains two days in row while driving back and fourth to work, it's pretty much gone for me.

I hope im not jacking this thread, but what else from Meguiar's might be better/worth a try?

endurance is great, but much more difficult to apply, it will last awhile though.

I tried Hot Shine myself a few weeks ago, and it works great for me...But I did spread it out with an applicator pad.

The tires have a natural, clean, black look to them IMO...And that's what I am looking for anyway.

I agree, I love the look of endurance and you only have to use it every 2-3 weeks.

I tried to go strictly with hot shine but the durability wasn't as great as with endurance so I'm bask to my tried and true method of hitting the lugs and rasied whites with hot shine and than applying and coat of endurance, hot shine really helps spred the endurance out as well.

Trigger, with a sponge, for daily driver detail.
Spray, no wipe, for car shows. Gets in the tread.

I used the liquid Hot Shine in the clear bottle.

One thing that I like about it, is that the tires really soak it up...It dried very well after spreading it out with an applicator.

have you used / compared that to the aerosal?

I have used Accent Dressing in the spray can, but not the spray can version of Hot Shine.
