  • compatiblity and cure time?

    1. Can anyone shed some light on NXT sealant's compatibility with cleaners and glazes? I'm assuming this can be applied over all of Meg's products in these two categories?
If this is the case, then NXT would certainly have a leg up on the competion (Zaino, Klasse, etc), which are finicky about what they can be applied over.
    2. My second question, which I probably know the answer to already, _but_ it's not stated anywhere on the directions...
Can NXT be applied over a carnauba?
    3. My third (and last) question, what is the cure time of NXT, before another layer (of whatever) can be added?
    Thanks,
    Jeff Laughhunn

Yes, I have had no problems applying it over most Meguiar's products.

Seems to greatly improve Zaino's results, I haven't tried it over Klasse yet.

I would say best results will come from letting the polymers set-up over a 24 hour period of time after wipe off.

Jeff, I have a little experience with questions 2 and 3.

I applied NXT over Pinnacle Souveran paste, using the PC and a finishing pad to apply, and the PC and a mf bonnet to remove. My estimation is that the process removed the Souveran completely.

Cure time appears to be between 12 and 24 hours; I figure "overnight", plus a couple hours. The second coat of NXT isn't as great an improvement as it is with a product like #26, but to my eyes there is a small improvement. There appears to be no benefit to further applications.

I also applied Souveran over NXT, and to my eyes that is a step backward, that the NXT looks better without the Souv. Try it yourself. My estimation is that the Souv lightened the paint, but wasn't enough more reflective to make up the difference.

As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.

I found similiar results with P21S over NXT. Lighten, lost reflectivity and clarity. Definitely a step backwards.
The best topper I have found for NXT is NXT Quick Wax.
NXT QW is a real sleeper.

I also particularly liked the Spray Booster Wax over the NXT applied a week after the NXT.

I think there is definitely some layering taking place as the SBW was even easier to apply and remove with a coat of NXT underneath. And very quick too.

Just applied NXT on my Silver Acura TL. It had NuFinish prior to that. I did wash the care with Dawn dishwashing soap to hopefully remove any wax leftover. Applying the NXT was a breeze. Easy on, easy off. I like the smell too! I am contemplating on applying a 2nd cote after 24 hours. Or should I just buy the booster wax and use that instead?

Layering NXT works awesome if done this way...

Allowing at least 12 hours after takeoff before the next coat of NXT yielded fantastic wetness and clarity on my paint. I have 4 coats on my car now, all of it is NXT. I am too tired to go for a 5th one, its been over 3 and a half days since I started this layering process and feel that my car has finally achieved that "blow them away" detailed look on its paint. Now comes the durability test.
I will start driving my car again and look forward to the next wash to see how well the appearance, water beading, and shine holds up after the first wash.

I will post a current picture when I have a chance, but next I have to fill in a new pit on my windshield(those darn rocks)

I've used NXT over several products, including American Shine's California Clear Coat (a glaze), Clearkote's Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze, Klasse AIO, Klasse AIO/SG, and Meguiars #20 Polymer Sealant.

All the combinations looked very good and NXT seemed to compliment the prep work. Way too soon to know if different bases for NXT affect its durability though.

I've also noticed in cool, damp weather, NXT is easier to remove if you wait 20-25 minutes instead of 10-15, so you may want to wait 36-48 hours this time of year before adding another layer or a carnauba topper.

                  NXT over Klasse SG?

Hey Scottwax, what is your comparison of Klasse AIO/SG to NXT? Both are synthetic sealants, but I am wondering if I should buy the expensive Klasse system to compare results of it against a multi coated NXT finish.

Big money, but Klasse has the aura of high performance.

As I understand it, NXT Tech Wax has some slight cleaning ability. This would mean that I would expect it to remove some, if not all, of any wax coat put on before the NXT.

My current favorite combo is NXT x 2 followed by MPPP. For some reason I don't see the NXT, MPPP combo talked about much on this forum but so far I have achieved my best results using it.

I have topped MPPP with NXT Tech Wax and the Spray Booster wax. It provided amazing depth and gloss and was very slick.
