  • NXT on my Civic. *PICS*

I was visiting the States a couple weeks ago and since NXT wasn't available up here in Victoria yet, I decided to buy a bottle. I didn't have a chance to try it out until now, and here are my results. Oh, notice the lack of shade-shots?

    Impressions:
    • excellent at hiding minor swirls
    • deep, dark gloss
    • brought the blue pearl in my paint out quite nicely
    • a bit harder to buff off than I expected, but still good

I'm impressed, but it lacks the carnauba "pop" that I'm used to; all my previous details always ended with a carnauba topper. I am going to try topping it with #26 or S100 this weekend.

A quick question as well: I am attending a show and shine this weekend, and I am thinking of putting a layer of #7 on top of NXT, then topping that off with #26 or S100. Will #7 remove NXT? If it does, will it remove much of it?

Very nice job on your car! Did you use a PC or apply by hand?
    That's blue pearl? Looks black!

I would only top the NXT with #26. I'm going to try that one of these days!

Thanks! It was applied by hand. The car is black, but there is blue pearl in the paint.

        Hi P.Noise,

The car looks great and I can appreciate your sun shot photos!

Question? Did you apply two coats or one?

I have probably applied more NXT to more cars than anyone and I can tell you for fact, a second coat will always look better than just one coat.

I haven't seen the need to top NXT for a show car, but all of the show car's I have worked on I have done all the necessary prep work, finishing the car off using the PC.

I have read that some people really like the look of #26 Hi-Tech Yellow wax over NXT.

P21S won't richen the color over what NXT will produce, (Try a test spot and inspect in the sun).

If you want to apply a topper, first apply a fresh coat of NXT for example to the hood and remove.

Then map out sections to apply your choices of toppers. Apply each one and remove being careful not to wipe into the other areas. Wipe carefully with a microfiber to remove any smudges or smears.

Now pull the car back out into the sun and slowly focus your eyes on the finish and go back and forth looking at the results. Check out the sun reflection in each of the sections.

Then go with the one that is the darkest, richest, deepest, most cobweb and swirl free.

Don't just apply a topper to the entire car and then inspect. You will not be able to judge whether the topper improved, or diminished NXT's results.

        FWIW

          Hey P.NOiZE

I lived in Victoria for 4 years (off of Johnson St. by the Oak Bay junction)! Beautiful city!!!

I have to agree with Mike. If you are going to test ideas, be sure to do it to sections only and have a control section as well. I have played around with topping NXT for some time now and I still prefer the look of it on it's own.
