  • Can I polish before NXT?

I've using megs for quite sometime... I've started out with the DCS system... then now, I have #7 and #26 as my step 2 and 3...

I just got the new NXT wax, and I was wondering if I could still use #7 as my step 2... then top it off with NXT... will this work?

Also, do I have to "clean up" my previous coat of #26 before going with the seutp above with a cleaner wax or DCS #1?

    Thanks!!!!

yes you can still use #7 as most of us do ( or #81 which is very similar.)
no you don't have to "clean up" #26, but sometimes starting from scrach gives you best results. just really depends on how much time your willing to spend. good luck and enjoy the forum!

I've had great results and tons of compliments using #7, NXT then #26 on dark green GT. Some don't like to top NXT though.

        Hey,

As the others have said, there is no problem using any Meguiar's Polish/Glaze before NXT Tech Wax. In fact, I highly recommend it! I always use Meguiar's #81 Hand Polish (similar to #7 Show Car Glaze) before I apply 2 coats of NXT.

Also, I am of those that do not like to top the NXT. I have been applying combos for years: 20/26, MPPP/26 etc... While I love the look of these combos (still do!), I also like the look of the NXT all on its own. It is just a personal preference that everyone has to decide for themselves if they like the look of it better topped or not.

        Cheers!

I certainly agree with Tim about not topping NXT, especially on a daily driver. It looks great as is. Just add another coat of NXT when the "spirit" moves you.

(Dare I mention that BLACKFIRE sealant doesn't need to be topped either. )
