  • Fender Mist and Wipe Finish Enhancer

Hi - I hope I got the right Forum

I have been using Fender Mist and Wipe Finish Enhancer (P1408F)for my guitar and I have noticed that it is very similar to Quik Detailer Mist and Wipe (A3316) for cars.

Are the 2 products the same? Can I use the Quik Detailer on my guitar? Will there be any adverse effects?

    Tnx - Doug

I have asked questions similar to this before... The answer I recieved was that when a company works with Meguiars on a product, it is unique in some way, not a re-labeled product.

I am certain QD would work fine, but you would have to try both and see if you notice any difference.

Hey thx for the reply - I also axed Meguiars home page about this and I got this reply...

Thank you for your email. Yes the Quik Detailer and the Fender Mist & Wipe are very similar. You can use the Quik Detailer on your guitar if you like, it will be safe. The Fender Guitar product however is formulated for their finishes. I would think that you would get better results with that product but the Quik Detailer should give you good results too. If you have any other questions or comments please feel free to contact me any time. Have a wonderful day!

I've used all kinds of things like NXT Speed Detailer and Tech Wax on some of my guitars. A few years back, I retrieved a White 1986 BC Rich guitar from storage only to find that the finish had yellowed a little bit. I found that the DC Paint Cleaner did wonders on it.

On my Hamer Studio guitars (one is Orange Maple, the other has a Blue Laquer Maple finish) I regularly use Tech Wax and Speed Detailer. It really made a difference when the lights would hit the guitar on stage (the bottom pic isn't NXT (it wasn't out yet!) but was the DC Carnauba Wax).

This is a very good answer.

If you think about it, there's only so many ways to make a quick detailer/mist & wipe product... that said, when a company comes to Meguiar's to have a product line made for their products, for their customers, they want products formulated specifically to their specifications, this would include their ideas on what they want out of a product plus the surface coatings they're using, or the components they're manufacturing.

This is where having you're own in-house chemists, in-house laboratory and in-house manufacturing plant gives you an edge over all the wanna-be's that actually don't produce products themselves but use some type of industrial manufacture that offers a menu of products they'll re-label at your requests.

Is the Fender Mist and Wipe Finish Enhancer a quality quick detailer? Yes.
Is is a custom formula manufactured to our customers specifications? Yes.
Could you get excellent results from our Quik Detailer? Yes.

In the big picture, it's important to be able to have trust and confidence on the name on the label to take care of whatever it is you're working on.
