  • NXT on top of cleaner wax?

I tried NXT for the first time last week and i like the way it looked on the car, I only did a couple sections, ( used the free sample i got in the mail) MY question is. I've been using the cleaner wax. Should i be using a different wax, or can i put the NXT on top on the cleaner wax. It's a new car, 04 G35 coupe. Had it since Sept 03. Is the cleaner wax even benificial? I just want to make sure i'm using the right thing. Sorry for the noob question.

The cleaner wax will help ensure that the surface is ready for the NXT (removing stubborn gunk from the paint). I have found that even though the NXT has SOME cleaners, it DOESN'T 'clean' very well at all. No matter what others have said, I still find that NXT is MUCH closer to a Last Step Product than a one-step.

so i should use the cleaner wax and then go over it with the NXT. thank you for the information, Is there anything else you'd recommend using? My coupe is a Twilight Blue (dark blue) the other main car that i do is my girlfriends RSX (white). any info is greatly appreciated.

      thanks again

Yep, just apply the NXT over the cleaner wax. I used to use this process all of the time with straight carnauba waxes --- cleaner wax followed by straight wax. However, you will get much better results using a good polish to prep the surface instead of the cleaner wax.

I use Deep Crystal paint cleaner followed by #7 polish and then NXT. There is no problem with using NXT over a cleaner wax. The paint cleaner is not a wax and i feel it does a better job setting up the paint for the wax.

Hello DUNBAR and welcome to meguiarsonline.com!! We're certainly glad to have you on board!

Topping with NXT is a great process in my opinion because, as most folks know, it's the prep work that really makes most vehicles 'pop' and shine second to none. The cleaner wax step will help remove surface imperfections as well as get the surface ready for a solid last step product. As was mentioned earlier, NXT has a very very very (did I say very?) slight amount of cleaning power but, like what was said earlier, I prefer to utilize NXT as a 'last step' or protection product.

Your method is A-O-K! Enjoy the NXT and be sure to let us see some of your work!
