Looking for INFO

Hi,
I want to do some detailing on my car.
There are so many products,it gets really confusing for a beginner.
Where would I get some good INFO to get a first class job.
Sort of like a tutorial,do steps 1,2,3,4,etc.using products A,B,C,D,etc.
Example:
I was looking at the paint cleaner products,I wanted to clay my car first,but I see their are other cleaning products listed that will do the same thing,so how do I decide which one I should use.

Like I said because of all the different products, how do you decide on which one.

I'm waiting for the PC kit that that I read about in the forms.
I will be purchasing to do the job.

Any INFO would be appreciated.

Yep all the products and numbers are confusing at first.
The next few questions to ask are how much to spend in
1. Time (more steps the better but more time involved)
2. Money (more steps require specialized products which cost $$)
Answer those and decide the acceptable level you want to take your finish to. The sky's the limit. Please post any further ??'s

There are a lot of "right" answers to your request. Here is mine. I'm sure a few others will also jump in and offer suggestions.

It would help to know a few things first.

What condition is your paint in?
What are your goals? Best shine? Long lasting?
How is your car kept. Garaged evenings?
Do you get a lot of contaminants on your paint? Tree sap, bird ****?

As to claying... nothing removes embedded contamination like clay. I highly recommend it.

For starters, I'd suggest the following.

1. Wash car in shade with a clean wash mitt. Use the two bucket method where your suds are in one and clean rinse water is in another. Rinse your mitt after washing each panel in the clean water. I'd recommend Gold Class wash or NXT Tech wash. Dry the car with soft clean terrycloth or MF toweling. Use lots of toweling thoughout the processes described here.

2. Clay the car. Before starting cut your clay bar into two or three pieces and seal the unused pieces in a baggie. If you drop the clay on the ground throw it away and use another piece. I prefer to use Quick Detailer as the lube for the clay.

3. I'd now use Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner either by hand or better by PC if you have one. This will remove any oxidation and light swirls. If you have deeper swirls and light scratches you may want to go with a more aggressive product. Let us know.

4. Polish comes next. I prefer #7 (Show Car Glaze) for that deep wet look. #7 can be hand applied or by PC.

5. Wax. There are several good solutions here. For dark color finishes I prefer #26. For lighter colors I prefer #16 or NXT Tech Wax.

6. To maintain the finish I like to wash with Gold Class and then use Quick Detailer if I used carnauba wax and NXT booster wax if I used NXT Tech wax.

No job is complete without dressing the tires. I am torn between Endurance High Gloss and the new trigger spray Hot Shine High Gloss. Can't go wrong with either.

When you get to the interior come on back and ask away.
