  • regarding spray waxing

    Hey!
I´ve just waxed my car in Gold Class liquid wax.
-I´was wondering, when it´s time to fresh up the wax-job.. -I´ve got a bottle of Sonax "wax it wet" -and I wonder if this in any way will ruin the job, or if it´ll make things shine?
can´t get my hands on any Meguiars spray at the time...

The product will work as long as there's wax on the finish and the surface is clean. You can apply it on a bi-weekly basis and it'll be fine.

Hmm, is bi-weekly--wax every two weeks or wax twice a week?

Either case, the frequency seems a little much don't you think for a finish that's been protected with Gold Class?

Just the same, I'm a little surprised that you didn't recommend a Meguiar's product such as NXT Spray Wax, considering that the Meguiar's products are designed to complement each other, and that may not necessarily be true with a different product.

      Just my 2 cents.

Well, bi-weekly generally means every other week, but it's a good question (why does bi-annual mean twice a year, but bi-weekly mean every two weeks?)

I use the spray wax about every third wash (3.5 - 4 weeks), or as needed.

Octane-Guy - he mentioned he didn't have access to Meguiar's Spray Wax, so I guess that's why it wasn't suggessted.

As far as the other brands, i really don't know the product well, so I can't offer specific advice

Ohhhhh, I keep forgetting to look at the location of the posters--I forget our European counterparts don't have the same stuff we do.

I don't use Spray Wax, though I often show my customers the proper way to use it. Since my car is garaged, and Quik Detailed frequently, my M21 wax holds up well for me. =)

Semi weekly would be twice a week.

If you don't have access to a spray wax, NXT Speed Detailer or Last Touch QD would be helpful.

okay every time i wash my car during the maintain phase

i always detail spray...then use spray wax after each car wash

is this overkill...after reading the replies in this thread it seems like it

the car is garaged at home...but at work it's outside exposed to sun, bird poop, etc

i wash the car every 2 weeks...since i carpool the car is like outside for 5 days out of the 2 weeks

              any advice?

After a car wash, you really could just do one or the other.

The Spray Wax would generaly be best, since it adds some protection, and you already dont mind taking the time.

The car is already clean after washing, so no need to use the Quick Detail, unless you find it really helps. Try just the Spray Wax on its own, and see if you like the results without the QD.

I find that after a wash, I will still follow with Last Touch or NXT Speed Detailer to rid of any water spots, or clean areas that aren't normally washed like door jams and door edges, and all hatch openings.

It adds extra gloss while ensuring the car is clean. Regular use of Quik Detailer adds protection to your finish. Not the same as a spray wax but it does build up.

Spray wax is considered a Booster Wax. A product to use in between full waxes. If you like using it after every wash, there isn't any harm to do so, if it is more work to use a spray wax instead of a quick detailer frequently.
