  • NXT Tech Wax Filming?

A friend of mine had a problem recently with NXT Wax filming after sitting overnight. He had this problem before with no explanation and decided to try the application again.

    His process:
Wash car with "a few drops of dish washing detergent in a bucket of water" (yes, I scolded him)
    Dry
Apply "light coat of NXT Wax rubbing it in well"
    Wait for hazing
Remove with soft cloth turning often.

He said the car looks fabulous.
    Covers the car in garage
Next morning he removes the cover and finds an "oily film on" on the car that can be easily wiped off.

He said he has about 15-20 coats of Gold Class on the car.

Any ideas as to what might be causing the filming problem? We live in Arizona, with mild temperatures and very low (6%) humidity

    Thanks for your ideas.

I think he needs to use a good paint cleaner first to get all that wax off. DC# 1 applied by hand or PC would do. Thats wat too much wax. He may also be putting in on too thick. You actually begin to lose gloss after 1-2 coats in my honest opinion. You also want to make sure you let wax cure between coats (cure time depends on atmsopheric conditions, temp etc).

Give me one properly applied coat of wax over 20 coats anyday

    Good luck!!!

      Hi bunker,

We've seen some feedback like this a few times in the past and like Hannibal mentioned, it may be a case where using a paint cleaner first to insure the finish is clean and your friend is starting with a clean base onto which to apply the NXT Tech Wax.

Perhaps you can share this idea/recommendation with him and even try this idea on one half of the hood and then compare to the other half and see if this produces better results. In the meantime I'll pass this information on to Marketing and Mike Pennington and perhaps they will chime in...
