cold waxing

Well, so at first i was concerned that the products were damaged,
sitting in the car.

But now;
We have a stabile air temperature of around 10 degrees fahrenheit.
Can I scratch-x and wax my car inside and take it straight outside?

A friend told me that most wax products need to "settle" before the car is used in frost.. But i think what he means is that air temperature should be well over frost limit when applied?..
Hope someone knows, i´m itching to wax my new car, there´s still 4 1/2 months ´till spring....

I would say to get some wax on it, regardless if it's under ideal circumstances or not. Better to have some protection on it than let it get attacked by the environment until spring, when you'd have an even bigger mess on your hands to clean up.

wax the car if you can get in a garage or something, other than that it might be hard to remove and that might require more elbow grease and depending on what you are using to remove (microfiber is all you should be using) you don't want to scratch anything.

another note - how do you plan to wash the car if it's too cold?

I think i might have prenounced myself badly.
I have a warm garage for washing/drying/waxing/ the car in.
I´m just wondering if there are any problems once i roll out, and park the car outside my house again..

The car is parked outside all year round.

I also have to fill in some of the deep scratches with original paint before i wax.


Oh yeah, one more thing. -what should i use for washing the car, that´s gentle enough not to take off my cold class wax when it´s dirty again?

I usually use a strong emulgating spray before every spongebath (when the car has no wax on) -But i´m not sure what you call it in english.
(It´s for removing asphalt, dust from brakes and particles from studdet tires.)

This is needed to get the surface clean enough for the sponge, but I do believe it takes out most of the wax if the car is waxed...

Well, the best looks come from letting it sit, but anything is better than nothing, so your effort is not a waste.

To wash with, I like Nxt Wash or Gold Class wash. Gold CLass is the most gentle.

You may want to keep your spray to just around tires/underbody. Using Gold CLass wash, followed by clay and a paint cleaner will prep paint fine when waxing, and Gold CLass alone should be ok after wax is on.

Be sure to have a Grit Guard in your wash buckets.

I agree with the rest of the crowd. I waxed the other day and it snowed that night. Did it appear to hurt anything? Not that I can tell. The main thing is that it is protected. I guess I am one of the lucky ones who can honestly say I put a good coat of wax on just hours prior to the first snowfall of the season.

Well, I usually use about 4-5 hours when I treat and wax my car.
But I do imagine that the wax "settles" the following days after the treatment, not just between "wax on" and "wax off"..
Heard on a forecast jnust now that milder weather is heading this way.. So i best hurry...
