  • Show Car Glaze question

I posted in another forum that I will be using SCG #7 as a my 2nd step.

Step 1 - Clean the paint using a dedicated paint cleaner, Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner

Step 2 – Polish the paint using a dedicated pure polish, either M-07 Show Car Glaze, or M-81 Hand Polish

Step 3 – Protect the paint using a dedicated pure wax, like M-26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax, or M-16 Professional Paste Wax

    THANKS TO MIKE

    But then I got a response :

Nothing at all is wrong with #7. You do need to top it with a non-cleaner last step product, as the oils in #7 are 1) easy to disappear -and- 2) are the key to the great results.

When I say non-cleaner, I mean don't use #20 or any cleaner waxes. I would stick with #16 or #26. #26 comes in a liquid if you like that form.

#7 requires two removal steps due to the high oil content. When you first go to remove it, it will look smeary EVERYWHERE. Do this first step with a terry towel. Remove most of the residue with this terry towel. Then go back over the whole car with a mf. Use this to remove almost all of the rest. The car should be squeaking (literally) at this point, but you don't have to be meticulous. Your last step product's application and removal will get the last 3-4% of #7 residue.

    Is he right ?

    Thanks

      Hey,

I have used #7 followed with #20 and topped with #26 for YEARS! Sure some of the light cleaners in #20 may remove some of the #7, but I highly doubt all of it. I would never miss using a glaze! I can assure you, you will love the difference!

I have found with the #7 you really have to buff it well. I use a cloth to take it off then another one to go over it again as it looks like it streaks. After it is all off [finish will be clear] go over it with your choice of wax.

Would a PC be okay to buffed out ?

            Hey,

I would use the PC and a W-9006 Finishing Pad to apply the #7 Show Car Glaze, but remove by hand with a microfiber towel.
