  • Proper usage of APC

I recently ordered a gallon of APC (as well as some other products from Meguiar's detailer line). Mainly, I plan on using the APC for interior plastic trim, interior carpets, wheel wells, and tires.

I understand that APC should be diluted, but to what degree? I guess each application would need a different dilution ratio. Also, what is the proper application method? Should I use a spray bottle or should I dip a rag into the product and wipe the surface?

MY plan of attack is to get about 4-5 spray bottles and label each bottle for the surface it was diluted for (i.e. tires).

Finally, can anyone offer any other suggestions as to the different surfaces APC can be used on?

    Thanks all

I just spent about 30 minutes using the search function to locate the Application Bulletin for this product as I'm pretty sure I've typed it up and posted it...

If I can't find it, I will type it up and post it for sure...

I know Mike will cover this well, there are many ways to use APC: The two I use are using it with my Meguiars APC spray bottle that is marked where to add the water for 4:1 to a 10:1 ratio, or I add the APC to a bucket and use the suds to srub matts/ carpets etc.

For cleaning inetiors, 10:1 should be pleanty strong. I only jump to more potent ratios with "nastified" interiors.

Hey Mike. Not to beat a dead horse here, but were you able to find this bulletin? If not maybe someone can just answer these questions...when using APC on wheel wells, will slight overspray damage the paint? Also, can APC be used on painted, clearcoated wheels?

I am not sure if it is the best product for cleaning wheels, however a little overspray will not hurt anything. The best thing is to hose everything down, then do wheels/wheelwells, underbody, etc. then hose and wash car. This will keep any strong cleaners from laying on paint for too long.

No, but I'll snag it off another system and post it here.

Depends on the dilution level. At too strong of a dilution APC will dull or stain the paint, remember... it's not a beauty product for paint it's a cleaner/degreaser. AT 64:1 it can be used to de-wax cars, so it can be used on paint, but you have to remember if you're using it to de-wax paint the idea is that most people doing this would be moving forward to the next step which would be restoring the finish with polishing and waxing.

                      Hang on for the bulletin...

philly as for the last part of your original question ive used meg's apc to:

remove stains from dress shirts (15:1)
clean kitchen & bathroom floors (15:1)
                          clean a stove (10:1)
                          clean an old fridge (10:1)
clean patio furniture (pvc type) (10:1)
clean the upholstery on a dirty desk chair (15:1)
wipe down enamal painted wall (10:1)
clean up the engine bay of a car (5:1)
I think i used it to "whiten up" some old tennis shoes (15:1)

off the top of my head those are some of the other uses i've found for APC. My favorite is removing stains from clothes - eats them up (the stain that is).
