    Meguiars Ultimate Bonnett...

First let me say, that this is the fastest way to get NXT off your car!

I do have some questions though. Directions on package were not that detailed.

What pad is best as a backer? I used 8006 yellow.

Would the maroon cutting pad be better/ firmer?

I ran it @ 4.5. Good speed? No Dust at all!

How much car should you do per side be for it loads up too much? They are two sided.

Should you put the bonnett over the pad while it is on the DA?

Or should you put it over the pad then stick it on the DA? I went with this. The velcro held no problem.

VERY fast, Very Easy to apply /remove product with a DA!!!!!!!

    Personal opinion here...

I like the yellow pad as it isn't too firm but isn't too soft. I don't think that there's a right or wrong answer here. The only thing that I'd be careful with is applying too much downward pressure with the cutting pad.

4.5 is about the speed that I like to use as well. Maybe a tad slower (ie: 3.5-4). Again though, I think this would be a personal preference and might need to be varied to remove certain products. For example, NXT is ULTRA-EASY to remove and thus, you really don't use much effort. A product like #83 or #7 that is a tad more difficult to remove, you might tone it back or up to take it off. Be careful not to apply too much 'downward' pressure as you might recreate problems.

Loading up will be very product specific as there are higher solid products and products with very little residue/dust (like NXT). You'll really have to use good judgement here and make the call based on what you're seeing. Of course, if the bonnet is getting a bit loaded, you'll want to flip it over or change it out.

Lastly, I don't think it'll matter on if you put the bonnet on or off the DA pad. If memory serves me correctly, in the How To Remove Paint Defects video available from Meguiar's, the instructor already has the bonnet on the pad and then velcros.

I hope my opinions might help out a bit with your questions. Others may have differing opinions though. Stay tuned!

I have got to get a couple of these, it seems I hear nothing but good things about them I am still set back by the price, it seems I might need to buy a few. How many do you use to remove a coat of NXT?

Rockpick Do you use them on your Ford truck? Its larger than mine, so how many does it take to remove the NXT?

        Hey,

The Meguiar's Ultimate Bonnet is an excellent product!!

As for product removal speeds, I would suggest using a little slower speed such as 4. I prefer using the clean and dry W-8006 Polishing pad as it offers enough support yet flexible enough for certain contours.

I always place the pad on the PC first and then the bonnet as it can be difficult to the line the pad up on the backing plate as the bonnet will cover a small amount of the mounting area on the back of the pad.

I only use the bonnets for the removal of Last Step Products.

          Newport Viper,

I hope you don't mind if I jump in here. More pathetic attempts to use my Wal-Mart Orbital until the PC deal comes through.

Here is the Ultimate Wipe fitted to the Orbital. I never thought to buy a w-0006 pad to put under it. Should I buy one up or would the terry bonnet under it be absorbant at all? Thanks.

yes you have to get some, as I couldn't believe the results. If I can answer for Rockpick I have only used 1 bonnett to get all the nxt off my truck (using both sides of bonnett)

Thanks 2000... I haven't been disapointed in a Meguiars product yet! Might just have to order one when the NXT Metal polish comes out.

If you have the Porter Cable version of the Meg's DA, the white pad that comes with the machine, the one with the fixed backing plate, is an excellent pad for the UB.

                  Thanks for the Tip!

I will use the white pad, that came with the DA, as the dedicated bonnett pad.
