  • Polymer?

    Hi again,
First, I guess I would like a clear explanation of what "Polymer" is and does it apply to natural (carnauba) based waxes or synthetic waxes or both? Reason I ask, I see there is a Polymer Sealant and a Synthetic Sealant. What is the difference between these two products? Are polymers in both?

    Re: Polymer?

Well, polymer/synthetic will mean something that is man made. When it comes to waxes, that will usually mean ingredients that are more durable, or make the product easier to use.

Most, if not all carnuba waxes will have something synthetic in them to at least make them spread, and be easy to use.

    As far as those products:

The #20 Polymer Sealant is a mild cleaner/wax that is the blend of carnuba and some synthetic ingredients.

The #21 Synthetic Sealant is a 100% synthetic wax.

Polymers can be natural, not necessarily man-made....

A polymer /ˈpɒlɨmər/[2][3] is a large molecule composed of many repeated subunits, known as monomers. Because of their broad range of properties,[4] both synthetic and natural polymers play an essential and ubiquitous role in everyday life.[5] Polymers range from familiar synthetic plastics such as polystyrene (or styrofoam) to natural biopolymers such as DNA and proteins that are fundamental to biological structure and function. Polymers, both natural and synthetic, are created via polymerization of many monomers. Their consequently large molecular mass relative to small molecule compounds produces unique physical properties, including toughness, viscoelasticity, and a tendency to form glasses and semicrystalline structures rather than crystals.
