  • QD #66 and ULW

Hey guys been lurking on the boards here for some time and wanted to thank all of you for the amazing information on here.

Couple questions for you guys. First, I'm about to use some #66 on my black Jeep Wrangler and was wondering if this stuff will stain trim? This thing is loaded with all that black plastic trim and i intend to tape it off but just wondering how perfect I need to be with the tape.

Second, after I'm done with the 66 can i top it with the ULW? If so do i need any time frame in between product applications?

    Thanks guys!!

Hi Rich. Sorry I cannot contribute much to your question directly. I can say though that if you have any problems with the plastic trim, Meguiars Black works wonders. I did not tape off the plastic when I did the 5 step on my Sierra. When I was finished, I noticed I had pad marks from the polisher, which left me with round pad marks from the polisher. I wiped the plastic with Meg's Black and instantly my plastic was like new again. Good luck.

      - Yes, it will stain. Just have a cloth with you to wipe off right away.

      - Yes, you can use ULW after. 12 hours or so would be for best looks, but 15-20 minutes at least gets you most of the way there.

yes it will stain, all wax will stain plastic.
Plastic is porous. The wax will get into the pores and will show like a sore thumb.
No need to top it, but you can put what every you want on it.

I use 66 on most of my details and it comes out great.
Also when putting wax on wax you'll actually remove the first coat of wax and therefore have less wax on your car then if you would have left it alone.
Topping is a waste of time and money.

Thanks for the info guys! Looks like I'll be extra careful taping and skip the ulw.

@please - how long does the 66 typically last on your customers vehicles?

lasts a long time 6-10 washes is what I tell my customers. But technically 15-20 washes if it's garaged and well taken care of
