I'd like to know how long I can expect M26 hi tech yellow wax to last. Obviously different weather conditions will make a difference, but was is the average range. I'm also curious about M26 synthetic sealant. The bottle says up to a year, but what is a minimum time to expect. What specific weather conditions shorten the life.

Re: M26 and M21 longetivity
And about 3-4 months with M21.
Disclaimer: that's my approximate estimate based on "average" conditions (whatever that is) and personal experience. There's far too many variables to give an accurate duration.Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Thanks for the input. I would have guessed closer to The 5-6 month mark for m21 but it is a product that I haven't become too familiar with yet.
I tend to use m26 more often. I use it monthly on my vehicles, although I expected it to last a bit longer.

Re: M26 and M21 longetivity
Impossible to say... Too many variables. What is the environment like? Do you live near coal-fired power plants? Acid rain? What is the prep work done? Is the car garage kept? How long is the car exposed to the sun? How often is it washed and with what is it washed? Parked under trees? Pollen conditions in your area? Bug splatter, bird droppings, freeway driven? etc, etc.
I have had #26 last as little as one month and as long as 6 months. Same for M21. Paint gets contaminated and the rate of contamination and degradation varies from season to season and location to location.
Why not try both and see how the paint reacts in your environment? It's not like either costs a bundle.
My personal impression is that I preferred M26 on medium to dark colors for the slight darkening effect it gave and I preferred M21 on medium to light colors for the bright crisp reflections if gave. If you want a product with a longer life, maybe seek out info on coatings.Jim

Re: M26 and M21 longetivity
As Jim said above, environment condition and prep work prior to waxing would play a major role in protection durability. Using a clay bar and even gentle pre-wax cleaner (if needed) like Ultimate Polish would be very beneficial to stronger bonding between paint surface and wax/ sealant. Synthetic waxes/ sealants offer longer protection and wear out less during car washes. Ultimate Wax (paste or liquid) is Meguiar's longest lasting sealant. For even longer protection (over 1 year) one of permanent coatings has to be used: C-Quartz, Opti-Coat, G-Techniq, etc.

As far a storage goes, my personal vehicles are garaged at night, but sit out in the sun most of The day.
I also do a bit of detailing for friends and family on the side, usually a couple cars a week is all. I would like to give them somewhat of an idea of how long to expect the protection to last for.

Re: M26 and M21 longetivity
I have two coats of m26 on my moms black ford freestyle, applied about 3 weeks ago. Car still beads as well as when first applied, shine has worn off a bit though. Just a quick observation for those wondering about the wax. When freshly applied the black paint looked WET. M26 is one of my favorite waxes for that reason, and it doesnt break the bank.
