  • Is this normal for #9

This evening I took my bottle of #9 2.0 out of the cabinet and took off the top so I could see how much I had left. Instead of seeing a creamy white liquid, I saw about 6 dark brown spots with a fuzzy texture on the surface. The first thing I thought was how can mold grow in this? Then I started wondering if this is normal for the product to separate after it has been sitting for awhile and some of the chemicals rise to the top and have a dark brown appearance. What ever it is has formed a skim on the surface. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this with #9 and if it is normal or do I have a bottle that needs to be thrown away? I purchased this bottle in late August or early Sept. this past year. It has been used twice and always stored in a cabinet in the house, so it has never been froze or subject the large temperature changes. I pulled all my other liquid cleaner and polish and wax bottles and took off the tops and none of them had this brown substance on the surface.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try shaking it up really well and then try it out. If it doesn't work, call Customer Care at 1-800-347-5700

    What are you working on?

Thanks for the quick reply Mike.
Last fall I used it by hand on our two vehicles. The cars were washed and dried and I applied #9 with clean dry foam pads.
I just shook the life out of the bottle, I can't see the big brown spots any more, but the stuff is thick (real thick) and looks chunky. It appears that whatever was on top is now mixed in but did not disolve.

I left some #9 in my car during sub zero weather once. It separated and got chunky and it was ruined. My fault so I threw it away.

What you describe is not normal for #9. Did you have the lid closed tight?

The lid was tight and spout was closed. My wife often complains about how tight I put the lid on things.

I called Customer Care today and spoke to a real live human being (most companies won't let you get past voice mail that never gets returned). The person was kind and knowledgeable and all is handled. Thanks for the guidance and give the people in Customer Care a pat on the back.
