  • Best Prep / Cleaning Product for medium grade oxidation & swirl marks

I've been asked to help my niece with her 2002 Hyundai Sonata - Navy Blue. The car has medium grade oxidation and swirl marks and sits outside.

I'm looking for help / suggestions on the prep /cleaning step in preparation for the polishing and waxing.

    Clay Bar?

    The Professional Cleaner Wax?

    The Professional Detailing Clay?

    Some combination of the above?

    All of the above?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

How much time/effort will you be able to make? How perfect are you looking to make things? Any chance of pics?

After a thorough cleaning, your first step on should always be a good rubbing with some type of clay. Only then will you be able to truly assess the finish and decide upon your next step.

What you need to do is going to be determined by the current condition of the paint, how much time you're willing to invest, the tools you have available, and what your ultimate goal is. Without seeing the current state of the paint on this car it's a bit difficult to give solid advice on what to do. Maybe reading through the 5 Step Paint Care Cycle will give you some better ideas as to what to look for and how to address what you find with a full evaluation.
